I am like so many of you; I've been up and down on the scale many times. I have been on all kinds of diets since I was a small child. My best weight loss was in 2006. I went from 385 to 290. I was comfortable at that weight and I enjoyed walking in the park everyday and eating very sensibly.

In 2009 I was assaulted and my hip was dislocated and then healed poorly. I did a lot of emotional eating and no exercise. My mild back problems started getting worse and then I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disk Disease and Spinal Stenosis. As this progressed it resulted in severe nerve damage on my right side. I now walk with a walker to prevent falling and because of chronic pain.

In 2011, just 4 months after I got married, I had major surgery on the disks in my neck, fusing 4 levels. I gained even more weight now my heaviest at 400lbs.

The deciding factor to have the Sleeve procedure happened when my neurosurgeon told me that I was too obese for the pain relieving procedure I wanted him to perform. He said the needles he would need to use were not long enough to reach where they needed to go. I am in pain all the time. I have nothing to wear and I feel like my happy life is being wasted because I can't move my body.

I just finished all of my insurance requirements and I am waiting for final insurance approval.
