  8. Hi Debs, Huntley would be very far as I'm having my surgery in elk grove village. The Kane Center came highly recommend. There was lots of positive feedback on the vs talk site and other websites. I began my search with only bcbs centers of distinction excellence in bariatric surgery.
  9. Hey, I live in Lombard. I plan to schedule for late May early June. I have finished all requirements and just had my pre op nutrition group class. I have Dr.Kane. Hey how was the drain for you, I just heard about that at the class. A nurse from the unit at the hospital gave us an orientation at the dietary session.

  12. I'm in the Chicago area and my surgeon is Dr. Kane with the Kane Center, I received lots of good referrals to them. If you can't get a local referral I would start with a center of distinction, it makes the approval process easier. I would suggest going to seminars of the various surgeons.
  13. Hi dotdot, check out the bcbsil website. They have the bcbs centers of distinction for bariatric surgery page. This is where I found my surgeon.
  14. I have ppo, it was submitted last week Tuesday and the surgeon office called on the following Monday to inform it was approved. I have to get pulmonary approval before a date is set. I have that in two weeks.

  16. Hi, I'm interested in your experiences with St. Alexius Elk Grove and the Kane Center practice. Dr. Kane is my potential surgeon? I'm waiting for insurance approval.

I'm in Illinois and I'm working with Dr.Kane at Kane Center through Alexian Brothers Hospital, it's a blue cross distinction center for bariatric surgery. They said that as of Feb 1 bcbc il is waiving the 6 month management plan. I have had my initial surgeon appt, psych and nut last week. I had an ultrasound today, physical with pcp next week and pulmonary appt in April. They submitted my file to bcbs yesterday.
  19. Hi Everyone! I'm hoping for a June date also, I'm a teacher and this works better with my schedule. I completed my initial exam, psych eval and ultrasound last week. I have a pulmonary scheduled for mid April. My file was sent to bcbs yesterday, so keep your fingers crossed! I started a medically managed weight loss program on my own this week to prepare myself for the lifestyle change. The hospital I'm working with Alexian brothers has a surgical and non surgical weight management division. Let's support each other!
  20. Does anyone know how the long approval process of bcbs il with a ppo is? Is there extra criteria?
  21. Hey anyone worked with the Kane Center in Illinois? What are your thoughts about this facility? I'm just starting the process, any tips or things I should know. I'm waiting for insurance approval and working with Dr. Kane.
