Hummus
i used a cheese stick to scoop it up! lol you can also look for paleo cracker recipes. grain free, usually made with almond or coconut flour. i was very excited i could eat it with raw carrots last week. raw veggies dont always sit well. yay!

the 5:2 plan seems to work well for sleevers.

Is sleeve good for SERIOUS sugar addicts?
there are sleevers who dump. its way more common with bypass though. i could not tolerate sugar after surgery. even fruit made me feel bad. 13 months PO i eat very little sugar. but i know i an anomaly. there are plenty of sleevers who can eat all the sugar they want. but many more who choose not to.

Laxatives
eat oatmeal every day and get in as much of your water as possible! i made mine with milk. you can also make oatmeal smoothies with protein powder or greek yogurt. (google it)

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
have you heard of the faux bypass? they hypnotize the person to believe they have had the surgery. apparently for people who are good subjects, they can lose as much or more weight as someone who has had the actual surgery!

The Soft Solids Effect
veggies, even cooked veggies, can be tough to digest. try things that are easier... cottage cheese, yogurt, soft cooked eggs. even just drink milk. fyi, at 13 months post op i cant eat 5 ounces protein! 2-3 at most.

IBS Attack 8 months post sleeve
yup, since gall bladder issues are a known risk of this surgery and IBS isnt. and no one should be in horrible mystery pain for 20 hours without calling a doc or going to urgent care or an ER! it could be appendix too.. if that ruptures, you could die! get some medical attention!

Some how along the path I messed something up!

IBS Attack 8 months post sleeve
unless you have been diagnosed with IBS i would assume that is gall bladder... but either way, if you are in pain for 20 hours, you better call your doctor right away! its pretty easy to diagnose gall bladder... a blood test and an ultra sound will do the job.

my teenage daughter is sick of me
thank you. it was a long time ago now... almost 35 years! my mom, she is a good person... just not so good with emotional stuff. instead of being a support for me, i took care of her. it wasnt right and i resented her for a long time for it. i understand now and forgive her for what happened, but am careful to not lay anything to heavy on my kids, i never ask them to take care of me, (though i tease them that some day they will be wiping my butt!) beyond small things... cause i know, all too soon they will be grown up and be my peers, not my babies. **sniff sniff**

do you have IBS?

my teenage daughter is sick of me
having been my mother's support when my father died when i was 15, i can say that its a lot to lay on her shoulders. as much as teens can seem all grown up... emotionally they arent really adults and can feel burdened by having to be a big emotional support for a parent. i would strongly suggest you get your main support elsewhere... from adults. and make it clear that she will not be required to physically care for you after surgery. this can cause teens to be very uncomfortable. they already have a lot of issues regarding physical bodies and caring for a sick or recovering parent can be too much for some. assume what she is actually telling you is that she is overwhelmed by the thought of your surgery and your need to be cared for afterwards.

help from veterans on the old head hunger/sweets
the only way to overcome compulsive eating and food addiction is with ACTION on your part. i just posted this for someone else. http://www.bariatricpal.com/page/articles.html/_/support/escaping-the-trap-of-emotional-eating-r179 try to remember that every single choice you make right now, creates your future. you are choosing it with each decision you make.
