Aloha everyone and welcome Lisa! I hope you're over the pain stage of getting the band. The pain meds seemed to work well in hindsight. I want to apologize to everyone for not writing in so long. I started nursing levels for school this month and I don't even have time to talk to my kids. LOL! It's a crazy schedule but I was able to change one class so I may be able to go to group on Wednesdays. Did the plastic surgeon talk at the meeting yet? Anyways, I'm pretty good. I actually don't have much restriction at all. Sometimes I'm so hungry I could eat a horse! I try not to eat too much b/c I don't want to gain before my first fill. I believe I may see you all next Friday. I think my appointment is at 2:15 or 2:30 and if my son doesn't have a football game that afternoon, I'll be able to meet with you all. Kaohinani, I thought I sent you a message before your surgery to wish you luck but I couldn't find it. I'm so sorry, I was thinking about you and hoping you had zero pain. Castle girl, I hope all is well with you. You have also been on my mind as well as the other two ladies and Dave. Well, I know it's a lot in one writing but I probably won't go on again until next week to check if we'll meet up. Good luck everyone! Aloha

Aloha ladies! I've been having low energy again so I haven't been online. Bev, I'm pretty sure I passed by you in the docs office yesterday. Jennifer was whisking me away to see Mary b/c I'm so starving they put me on soft foods. When I came back you were gone and I didn't get a chance to say hello. Castle girl, sorry I didn't return your call. I thought I had excess energy that day so I took my sons to the dentist and was so weak I could barely drive home. I ended up sleeping into the evening. Mary said my energy should be better b/c I'm eating now. It's soooooo good to eat again! I hope you're doing better than I am. Good luck on your upcoming surgery Bev, I'll be praying for you!

Hello ladies! Mahalo for all your concern. Well I'm finallly feeling up to posting. I've been trying to recover and feeling very tired since surgery. I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time so Jennifer was saying my pain would be worse then just getting banded. The pain is about 90% gone now. I stopped using pain meds on Friday b/c I didn't want a groggy head. The hardest things for me is getting the 60-65 grams of protein in and sleeping. I can't really find a good position to sleep in yet but It's getting better. I'm going to see if Costco has Isopure because the unjury protein I bought online makes me nauseous. I actually gained weight during surgery, probably from the gas and IV fluids. I'm starting to lose now but I think I have to start exercising to start losing more. Kaohinani, my appointment is at 2:15 this Friday. Hope to see you all there. Good luck!

Castle-you must be at the hospital already! Good Luck! My surgery has been moved up to 10:30. I'm getting the kids ready for school. I didn't realize I was supposed to be on clear liquids yesterday until Jennifer told me at 1PM. I'm starving now and weak. But I can't wait til I get my band! Thanks for all the support ladies! See you in bandland!:whoo:
6. You are absolutely right! It must be a good omen. It's so exciting. I'd also like to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement! We are the only ones who know exactly all the emotions we're going through. Family and spouses may try to understand but they have no idea. I'm so excited, scared...and starving!Good luck everyone. Aloha girls! It's so nice to have a support system who knows what I'm going through. The diet is going good and bad. I've had a headache and low energy all day. I actually ate half a pop tart and some rice and macaroni salad with my shoyu chicken for dinner. Mary, the nutritionist, basicallly told me to try not to cheat before the surgery so after I wouldn't be so starving and so my stomach could shrink but I can't help myself. I did go to the gym today and did some strength training and walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes and I was wiped out.:faint:I also go to 24 hour so maybe sometimes we can go together for support. Kaohinani, it's so awesome that your husband lost so much weight in just one month! Castle-It's kind of weird that your surgery is at 11:45 and mine is at 11:30. Maybe he'll lay us side by side and take turns putting bands in. Oh yeah, go to the ticker factory website and set up your info then copy and paste the info in the first box into your signature. Let me know if you need more help with that. Anyways, I hope to see you all soon

OMG Castle girl, we're banding on the same day! What time is your surgery? Mine's at 11:30. I wonder if we were in the waiting room yesterday for the pre-op. So exciting! Mescla, we should get together so we can see each other before and after and congratulate each other on how great we all look after!:clap2: Talk to you soon!

Congratulations! You must be so excited. It's good that your mom will be there to help you. My mom will also be helping me with the kids for a couple of days after my surgery on Wednesday. Good luck!

Hawaii pre & post bansters

I get 5 mini meals and one main meal of 5 ounces of meat, fish, chicken...& 2-3 cups of certain veggies like cucumbers, mushrooms, green beans, celery, cabbage, tomatoes... The mini meals are a choice of fat-free yogurt, 5 triscuits with one wedge laughing cow low fat cheese, a lettuce wrap or lo carb wrap with 2 ounces tuna & light mayo, a south beach diet bar, 4 slices healthy choice turkey with salsa, EAS low carb protein drink(I like the chocolate flavors and its cheapest at Walmart) You need to begin eating within 30 minutes after you wake up and eat every 2-3 hours but no longer than 4 hours. Also you can eat the veggies between meals. There are also "FREE FOODS" like korean nori, low sodium V8 drinks, sugar free jello with sugar free whipped cream(I have yet to find sugar free whipped cream) low sodium chicken broth and crystal light drinks. I think thats about everything. I tend to cheat here and there and so I go to the gym 5 times a week now and do 20-30 minutes of cardio and 30-45 minutes of strength training with 5 minutes of stretching. I probably would've lost another 10 pounds if I would stop cheating. Maybe you'll have better luck than me. Good luck!
the strength training is 2-3 times a week
12. Did anyone have their gallbladders taken out at the same time as placing their lapband? And if so, did it take you longer to heal?

Congratulations on your baby! I work call-in so I make my own schedule. I also go to school full time so I scheduled my surgery to give me at least two weeks before I start school again. I've read posts where people go back to work one week after surgery and Dr. Fowler also said that too. In the meantime, they'll put you on a diet to help lose weight before the surgery.

Aloha mescla 808! I'm so glad you started this thread. I'm getting banded on the 15th at Castle Medical Center with Dr. Fowler. I'm so excited but at the same time I have major anxiety. I met a few people the other night at a lap-band support group who had the surgery. Two women were 2 weeks out and had lost 20 and 23 pounds in those 2 weeks! That would be wonderful. Let me know if I can help you with anything.
16. Hawaiigirl, getting banded on Oahu on August 15th! Woohoo:whoo:Kaohinani, where are you getting banded?
17. I know there will be scarring after surgery but does it ever go away?
18. hawaiigirl

How do you sleep?

Paco Momma, I noticed you had a tummy tuck where your signature is.
How much did you pay for the tummy tuck? I'm pretty sure I'll need one eventually because my stomach has stretched ridiculously after having kids.

19. Wow, that's an awesome website! I started lifting weights recently and this really helps. You don't even need a personal trainer if you follow these exercises. Cool : )

Help w/ preop diet...

I'm doing EAS high protein low carb drinks three times a day and 5 ounces of meat with 2-3 cups of veggies like tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms, leafy greens, sprouts, cucumbers, celery. Today I went to the doctors and finally I'm less than 210 pounds which is my first goal. It's hard sometimes but I want to make sure I shrink my liver for surgery. Good luck, I'm sure you can do it!
21. hawaiigirl

Today is the day!

I hope you feel better! I'm sure it will be all worth it once those pounds start dropping. Good Luck
22. I'm also being banded on the 15th! Woohoo!!!:whoo:I just had an EGD done yesterday and I was so scared but it was really simple. Now I just have a sore throat. I find myself cheating on my diet a lot knowing that my surgery is in one month. What's wrong with me!:cry Any suggestions how I can stop this self destruction is greatly appreciated. :help:Mahalo
23. Sounds like a great idea. Just make sure with your doctor or a pharmacist if the meds you're grinding are ok to be grinded. There are many meds that can't be crushed like long lasting or extended release tablets. Good Luck!

Loose/Sagging Skin

I haven't been banded yet but the personal trainer said that exercise will help because it tones the body so I've started doing some walking and weight training 2-3 times a week. Hope this helps:)

Where is everyone from?

Nah, just the people who think we still live in grass shacks. You'd be amazed how much aloha the locals have for any visitors.
