    Dr. Ponce de Leon?

sorry it took me so long to get back on here i have been laying low for the last few days since being home. My experience went well im home and feeling better everyday. The hospital staff were great and everything was very clean over all a good experience! The one thing I will say though... I cant remember who you said you were using as a coordinator but having Trish there was priceless !!! She helps with any communicating that you need done, she gets you anything you need she takes you out and she even on more then one occasion brought my boyfriend dinner. You really cant believe how much it makes a difference to have your coordinator there! Plus the hotel has a deal with them and she makes sure you are well taken care of!
  2. So I had surgery on the 2nd of May and although I defiantly had gas pains after I thought it was getting way better but im getting spasms and feel the little air sparkles start to move up every time I lay down flat in bed. It woke me up in pain this morning. How long does this go on typically?
  3. So I leave tomorrow for mexico and surgery is on Thursday, up until this morning I would say I have been very calm and not nervous at all. I think that may have changed I had racing heart thinking about it this morning... Honestly its not getting surgery that has me freaked its all the old tapes running in my head about what I wont be able to eat after. I know my health is way more important to me then letting food rule my life but I must admit I keep having to remind myself of that! I really dont want to be stressed going into it. Any advise on how you all kept calm and collected?

That is awesome! I am scheduled with Dr. Ponce on May 2nd and its always nice to hear positive feedback. Just makes me feel even better about my choice.
  10. It actually happened really fast for me I inquired with the Dr.'s that I was interested in sent in my health form and was approved by multiple in the same day. Took me a couple of days to decided where to go. Once I did I was scheduled quickly. I had to wait 2 months for my date because of work but other then that it was fast. I am going May 2nd!
  11. Just wondering if I might see anyone while Im there. I hear its nice to have a walking buddy lol
  12. Im scheduled with Dr Ponce on May 2nd and the closer I get the more nervous I get, I told my husband the other day that we could just take a mini vacation and not get it done. He just rolled his eyes at me and talked me off the ledge again lol. Good luck with yours!

    Funny dream...

lol I had a dream the other night that I got there and they told me they were out of what ever it is that knocks you out and they started drawing lines on me like you see when you get plastic surgery and told me they weren't going to worry about it they would but numb my skin and get in there. I went running. Then I remember just being disappointed in myself for not doing it because i really wanted it done lol.... weird
  14. Hello everyone! I am fairly new to the site I have posted a couple things while doing research. I have officially made my decision, booked my date and bought my flights! I will be seeing Dr Ponce on May 2nd. I am just as nervous as I am excited, this is something I have been thinking about for the last few years. I feel very fortunate to have such a supportive family and partner, every time I start to freak out and think no i shouldn't do this he kindly reminds me of the reasons I am doing it. One of those reasons being he would like me around for a long time. I cant even begin to explain all of my emotions around doing this, everything becomes so real the minute you buy those plane tickets. So here we go now I just have to wait. I am what you would call an over analyzer and planner so I have already bought sample packs of different Vitamins and Proteins to try out, crossing my fingers I will like at least one Anyone else out there that is planning ahead and will be there in the first week of May?
  15. I will let you know how it goes for sure everyones stories on here sure helped me make the decision. I will admit though as the date draws near I am getting more nervous and having bad dreams. I know thats all normal but i wont say I havent had the thought "oh my weights not that bad is this really worth it? i can live with being fat" then I come back to reality.
  16. Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a story with everyone that might help others be more open with talking about getting WLS done. I will admit that I have not told everyone I come across that I am planning on getting it done in May but I have told everyone that is close to me. By profession I am a hair stylist so I have clients that over time have become friends and I have told a handful of them what I am getting ready to do, not only because it doesn’t bother me to share but also because they want to know why I am taking a short leave. This story really revolves around one of my clients. We'll call her Marie. Marie has four kids, three of which have had their own set of struggles. One is bi-polar, one has been on and off drugs, and one has struggled with obesity her whole life. Her daughter that has struggled with obesity lives in New Mexico and Marie lives here in Washington State. They don’t get to see each other as much as they would like but try to make a visit twice a year. So one day she’s in my chair and we are having the "talk" about my sleeve getting done in May. She was tentative and of course had tons of questions because I am going to Mexico to get it done. We talked about it for almost the entire two and a half hours she was there and most of it was her asking questions. The next time I saw her she said OMG do I have a story for you. Well in the time frame since I has last seen her, her daughter had come to visit from New Mexico. She said she went to the airport to pick her up and couldn’t find her till she was right in front of her. She had lost close to 65lbs since they saw each other last! She was in awe at the progress her daughter made. Well it finally came out during her trip that she had gotten the sleeve done in Mexico last November with out telling anyone except her husband. So Marie is telling me this story and I'm gasping and omg-ing in all the right places lol and she finally says. "If you and I hadn’t talked about this last time I was here I’m not sure I would have reacted the same way in being supportive and happy for her because I may have just been in shock and scared to death that she did all of this with out telling me. I don’t think that I would have handled it well and probably hurt my relationship with my daughter because she told me she was most scared to tell me thinking that I would not support her. I cant thank you enough for being so open and honest about your journey." So I guess what I am getting at here is I know not everyone wants to share with others and that’s fine everyone has their own path there is no right or wrong just try to keep in mind you may help someone else with their journey by sharing and not even know it.
  17. I will be there having my sleeve done on May 2nd but with Dr Ponce. Good luck! I think the hardest part for me at this point is waiting.....
  18. Did you find that it was hard to communicate with him at all? I know he doesn't speak english and I have heard that its no big deal but i was just wondering what your experience was.

    tickets

dont know how true this is but I read an article on Yahoo the other day that the cheapest time to buy for a flight is exactly 49 days before your trip. Again not sure if its true they said the data came from all the online booking sites averages.
  21. Hey everyone! Im getting close to setting my surgery date (waiting on when the best time to take off work will be) and my one of me concerns is after care. I have no insurance and no normal PCP so I really am looking for advise from someone in my area that has one already who is used to caring for us self-pay TJ people
