Orange county, NY as well!- Post-Op Transition Back to Food -- SLOW!
- Post-Op Transition Back to Food -- SLOW!
Just wondering if anyone else's doctor is as strict and slow-progressing back to solid foods as mine. Here is my plan to follow: post-op: Clear liquids only first 5 days Then, 2 weeks of Protein shakes only Then, 2 weeks of mushies (no carbs) Then finally, solid foods (minimal carbs only from veggies and fruits) My doctor's practice also is very strict on limiting most all carbs, promoting the most successful weight loss. I don't mind this plan, as I truly value my doctor's and nutritionist's knowledge and desire to see me succeed. I am just curious as to other's plans to follow since it seems that many here eat mushy and solid food much sooner after surgery. Jessica sleeved: 2/11/13- Any pre-op / post-op sleevers from Hudson Valley NY area?
I took a shower this morning... heavenly... I can only have Clear liquids til Saturday (Crystal light, Diet Snapple, etc), then on to Protein Drinks. I just set my phone alarm, and kept hitting the snooze (which goes off every 5 minutes) and I take a sip. I got a bunch of medicine cups from the nurse at the hospital and It helps me keep track of how much I am drinking. It is a process... I got a few different protein drinks to choose from, so I can keep things varied for the 2 weeks of protein drinks. I got- Any pre-op / post-op sleevers from Hudson Valley NY area?
Had my sleeve done on Monday (2/11) by Dr. Weiss at Good Sam in Suffern and came home yesterday. I feel good! No pain, just sore. Not hungry, taking my sips every 5 minutes (actually set my phone alarm!) so I make sure to get in an ounce every 20 minutes. Can feel lots of gas bubbles popping away. Tired, though -- I know that is to be expected. Looking forward to Saturday when I can switch over to protein drinks! Good Sam hospital was awesome -- staff was very caring and knowledgeable! So my journey begins -- Jessica

Deedee, thank you so much for your kind words! I frequently go to the Tuesday 10:30 support group (will be there this Tuesday) and I have my pre-op appointment this Tuesday after group. I'm going through this journey with my best friend and she is also getting sleeved on the same day & same hospital as me with Dr. Weiss!- Our Time Has Arrived!
I will be sleeved on Feb 11th- Any pre-op / post-op sleevers from Hudson Valley NY area?
