  4. Over the past 2 1/2 weeks I've been up and down. No issues with drinking clear liquids, like water or tea. Shakes I have to sip very slowly, or it feels like it backs up with pressure in my throat and under sternum. Puréed soups I measure out 1/4 cup, and sip it slowly, taking about 15 min. Then about an hr or so later, I try some more. Some days no problem, but others I feel like I'm forcing every spoonful. Everyone says it gets better as time goes by though.

  14. Hey there! I am 17 days post op. Recuperation is a bit slower than I anticipated. Maybe it's my age, or because I felt pretty un-well going in. I'm pushing myself to be more active everyday, because I have to return to work next Monday. I am excited to become a part of VST, and look forward to learning from each of you.
  15. Try adding a tablespoon of sf-ff Jello pudding or Gelatin powder to it. The cheesecake and white chocolate favors in Costco's whey Protein powder is what I use. The orange Jello in vanilla shake makes it taste like a 50/50 ice cream bar. strawberry Jello with a couple frozen strawberries in the vanilla shake is great. It will add ~10-15 cal per shake, but worth it if it makes it palatable. Good luck.
  16. I had vsg surgery on Jan 14, 2013. Maybe I'm rationalizing but I view the vsg as a tool, in the same way that when my appendix needed to be removed (or a number of other body parts I've had removed over the years) I had it removed. If this helps me live my remaining years in better health I'm going to use it. I am thankful that God has given our surgeons the knowledge and skills to to perfect this procedure, and that I am in a place and time to be able to take advantage of it. I believe that each person must pray and come to their own decision. I know that God will give you peace in whatever path He leads you.
