I was scheduled for March 18. My docs office submitted to my insurance (BCBSNC) and the insurance company immediately denied it because they said my docs hospital was not a blue "distinction" hospital. When I began this journey I specifically asked my insurance if the hospital was a distinction center and they told me they were. Also, my docs office confirmed this before my first visit. Now they say there is nothing I can do except find a blue distinction center. I'm hoping that I won't have to go through the entire process again. Looking on the bright side, I could possibly get an earlier surgery date.

I am going in for my NUT appt. tomorrow. What should I expect?

I'm scheduled for March 14th! I'm so excited but overwhelmed with all that had to be done. However, I'm ready to begin this journey!!

Congrats on your approval!! I am curious. I saw the doctor today and he said I was a candidate, my surgery was scheduled along with post-op appts. Does this mean I'm in the clear with everything or is this a formality?

Hi, everyone. I'm just beginning but soooo excited. I meet with the Dr. Next week and was wondering what I should expect during our visit.

I am new to the process. I am 5'3, 200 lbs. (bmi 36). I also have a comorbidity. I went to the seminar so far and meet with the surgeon next week. What should I expect at the visit and has anyone with blue cross of North Carolina run into any problems?
