  1. Hi Ron -- I had my surgery three weeks ago, and have been becoming very hungry as well. I am drinking a lot of fluid, but making sure that it is low calorie and low fat. There is some good soup available called Gardenay from Campbell's -- it comes in cartons in the soup isle. I have been enjoying the 'black bean and red pepper'. It is very filling and very tasty. I have also been drinking tomato juice, as this seems to fill me up as well. Applesauce is pretty good, but I am getting sick of yogurt and jello. But the soup has really helped. Good luck, Kath.
  2. When I told my family -- they were all glad for me. I made sure that I highlighted the positives, ie. how it was much less invasive than other gastric surgeries, with much less risk, and that I would be losing weight at a safe rate. As for other people in my life, as the date got closer, I just started telling friends and colleagues in casual conversation, and didn't make a big deal about it. I was surprised at the number of people who hadn't heard about lapband and were interested in hearing more details about it. I was also surprised about the number of people who had heard about it and knew other people who had had it. For me, the main thing was just to be confident and sure when I told them about it, and just to be matter of fact about it. Good luck.
  3. Hi -- I had my surgery on July 20 -- I'm on the full fluid diet now and go for my first fill on Aug. 27. I'm not really hungry physically, but I can't stop thinking about food -- it's everywhere -- commercials on tv, etc. Has anyone else experienced this -- does it go away?
  4. Hi everyone: My name is Katharine and I live on Vancouver Island. My doctor is Dr. Leung in Surrey. My surgery is scheduled for July 13. I am both very excited and somewhat nervous, but I guess that's normal. Very glad to find this site because I don't know anyone else who's had the procedure.
