  1. So I started at 199. My highest non-pregnant weight of my life. The only time in my life when I didn't feel fat was when I was at 135. I am 5 feet 5 inches. So I am now down 20lbs and weight is 179 (big yay to that). But to me, I am still terribly obese. I see these photos of other women who are at the same weight as me and they look fantastic. I just don't understand how two people the same height and weight can look so different. This road is both harder and easier than I expected. Maybe I am just frustrated because I am in the dreaded 3 week stall and feel like 20 pounds is all I am going to get out of this. Ugh

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...

My BMI was 31 (no co mordidities) and I had the same doubts as you. What made my mind up for me was two things. First, I just didn't want to spend the next 30 years of my life battling my weight. I have done it for 25 years and I am tired already. Finally, I had a second daughter and realized if I didn't get my eating habits and food choices under control my girls would learn everything from me just like I did from my obese mother. I wanted to do everything I could to help them avoid being a chubby teenager. So I am starting by being the best example I can be. This is your choice and only you can decide if its worth it. Good luck
  3. I went alone to dr Ortiz too. I felt the same way as you, but I met some wonderful people and we bonded and month later we still email. Truth is (at least for me) the two days after the fact were miserable and I was actually quite lonely, but also really happy to just be miserable without anyone watching me go through it, if that makes sense. So, while the day after surgery I regretted going it alone, by Friday when I went home, I was glad I went solo. Good luck and you will do great!
  4. Ok, I am not usually an alarmist, but considering how serious complications can be, I am taking no chances. I need advice from the vets. I am four weeks out on Tuesday, within a few days after surgery I felt great. Then last week (at 3 weeks) I started to feel fatigued. It has just continued to worsen. As of today, I can barely keep my eyes open. I feel like I am going to faint. I am so insanely tired, I can barely function. I have a crazy headache. I am hydrated (pee clear, drinking over 64 oz). Up until today I have been over 60 grams Protein. Followed the diet exactly, no cheating. Taking my Vitamins, so what is this? I have no other leak symptoms, no fever, no shortness of breath, no chest pains. But any idea what is going on? I was sleeved in Mexico and so the ER is my only resource for care. So I don't want to jump the gun and go to the ER unless necessary. Please help with your thoughts.
  5. You lose 20 pounds post surgery and no one notices. Sigh.... The 20 pounds mean a lot to me and I am really happy about the loss. It has been three weeks. i can see and feel a difference, but I have to admit I am a bit bummed that no one else has noticed.
  6. Well, in an effort to rectify this problem. May I say to you all - "wow! Did you lose weight? You look amazing. Great job!" Happy Thursday

    Dr. Ariel Ortiz

I went to Dr. Ortiz. A friend of mine is an RN and she had the Lapland done three years ago. She had nothing but positive things to say. I was sleeved on Nov 14 and had a great experience. I would def recommend to others. I had the surgery on a Tuesday, one night at the clinic then two nights at the hotel and then home. The first 36 hours were rough, but that's because the anesthesia and I didn't get a along. In all super positive experience. My scars are very small and light. I am three weeks out and down 19 pounds. Very pleased. Good luck. Oh and if you have questions call their 800 number. The patient coordinators are wonderful and super knowledgeable.
  8. I know that seems like an odd question. But all I read on here are these super positive stories of people the sleeve has worked for. Well, here I am two weeks post op and I lost 13 pounds. But I have been stalled for 4 days. I started at199 and now am 185.5. i am doing everything you all say; 700 calories a day, 65g protein, under 30g carbs; 64oz water; right now I am still in liquids. What I can't figure out is how I can go from consuming over 2000 calories a day (pre op) to less than 700 and not lose weight. I feel so discouraged....thoughts?
  9. No joke you lost weight and 25 years. In the first shot I thought it was your dad or something! Way to go, you look awesome!
  10. All the responses are appreciated. Logic tells me to be patient, but my desperate heart who has wanted for so long to conquer this weight problem is just so excited I get frustrated when I don't see results. I know it's fear. Fear if failing AGAIN in losing weight and keeping it off. It's amazing how many negative and deep seeded emotions come up during this journey. Thanks for all your encouragement and words of wisdom.
