  1. Hi: I was banded on Aug. 6, 2007, I have lost 23 lbs. so far. I'm doing great however the last few days I have eaten some things that I probably shouldn't have ex. torilla chips/spinch dip. Every day since I've had diarrhea. It's not immediately but approx. 12 hrs later. Do you think this is from my diet or should I be concerned about something else? Thanks for help. Marcy:)
  2. Thanks. I shouldn't be eating torilla chips and spinach dip anyways. It just tasted so good to chew.
  3. Hi: I'm scheduled for surgery Aug. 6, 2007 so I started the liquid diet yesterday. I am so hungry I'm ready to gnaw on my own arm. I was actually hoping we would have communion at church last night so I could eat something. Any suggestions? I'm trying not to cave. I know I can't if I want the surgery. Will it be this way after the surgery as well? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Marcy
  4. Hi: I keep seeing references to pf, what is this? Thanks. Marcy

    Overeating? and PBing

What is slimming? I'm getting banded Mon.?? Marcy
  6. Thanks to all who replied. My doc has me doing the BetterMD liquid protein. I was told I can only have what's on the list. So basically three shakes a day and 2 kool-aid like drinks. I'm hoping it gets better. Sunday is the day before surgery. I think that will be rough. I can only have 5 of the kool-aid drinks all day nothing else. Good luck to all and let's pray for good results.
  7. I've really had a difficult time making the decision to get banded but can't seem to get it off and keep it off myself. I'm just so ready to feel better. I have sleep apnea which makes me extremely tired most of the time. Difficulty getting through the work day. Plus I have reflux. So I'm hopefully these things will go away. Good luck. Keep up the good work. Marcy
  8. Hi: I'm from Saginaw. Where are you from? I am scheduled for Aug. 2 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Marcy
  9. Hi: I just received my surgery date-Aug. 2. I'm really nervous and scared. I've never had any surgery or even been in the hosp. I'm also scraed that I will have the surgery and then after not be able to stick to the diet. I obviously haven't been able to prior to this. How do I make this decision? Any suggestions? Tesma
  10. Thanks to all who replied. I feel better about the decision. This site is wonderful because people understand. Alot of nayers around me, just think I should be able to diet/excerise. I think they are fearful that something will happen during the surgery. Anyways, it's nice to get positive support here. Marcy
  11. Hi: My name is Marcy and I'm 38, 5 '8, 272lbs. It looks like I will be approved for the surgery in the next month or so. My question is Has anyone else struggled with the decision to have the surgery itself? I feel bad that I have to resort to being banded because I can't control my eating. I feel like if I just had enough willpower, I could be "normal" but obviously I can't since I've had weight issues off/on all my life. As others have stated, I basically have to starve myself to be a normal weight. Also what are the risks long term? I guess what I wonder is what are the long term effects of the band and will we still be banded at age 80? Will the band have to be replaced over long term? Thanks for any responses. I'm single and out here by myself. Marcy
  12. Hi: I'm considering getting banded. I understand the various stages of diets from liquid to reg. foods. However I am confused on a few things. Can you ever eat sugar, caffeine or alcohol again? I know these are bad for you and not working toward weight loss but don't know if I can go the rest of my life without a cookie or caffeine again. Help, I'm so nervous. Thanks, Tesma
  13. Do you think the surgery has allowed you to kick the Diet pop habit? I think I could give up the carbonation but I sure need the caffiene to me started in the a.m. Do you think they make caffiene Crystal light. JUst joking. Thanks for info. Marcy
  14. Thanks so much for the information. I agree. That's what I want a normal relationship with food. I think the most difficult thing for me to give up will be Diet Pepsi, I'm totally addicted.
