Welcome HOME Double V's!
Checked in today at around 7:50am. Checked out around 8:30pm. Surgery went great. No pain (as of right now) at all throughout. Had some discomfort in the midsection but that's standard. Walked around the room 3 times with no issues. Actually there was 1 issue. I went from surgery to the recovery room, and after "an hour to an hour and a half" was supposed to be transferred to the short wait room. I waited about 3 hours in an uncomfortable stretcher that really hurt my back because they couldn't get a room open. Ugh. Other than that, everything was great. I hope all went well with the V-V's today. Oh, and while watching TV I kept seeing pizza Hut ads like every commercial break. Thanks a lot TV.

CIGNA people-How long did it take for approval/denial?
Good info. I had my paperwork submitted today and I am pretty confident I have fulfilled all their criteria. The only issues I might have is that I don't have any co-morbidities (my argument is that I'm trying to get this done to, among the standard reasons, to prevent future problems) and that I do not have 5 years of medical history (which I've been told should not be a problem). I was actually told Cigna has *60* days but I will bug them as frequently as I can and hope everything goes through expeditiously.

GAH! Help me decipher this so I can sleep tonight
That's what I thought as well but seeing anything under exclusions about this really scared me. I do remember seeing the code somewhere on here, but I am def. calling in the morning. Thanks for the help!

GAH! Help me decipher this so I can sleep tonight
:help::eek: I just got an updated insurance packet from my employer yesterday. Tonight I finally sat down to check it out. So I'm reading all about what it covers (I have Cigna OAP). On one of the first pages it reads: "Outpatient Facility Services includes: Operating Room, Recovery Room, Procedure Room and Diagnostic/Therapeutic Lab Physician and Outpatient Professional Services" This is still listed as 20% which is what its always been and what I always considered what I'd be paying for getting banded. But then I go to the back where they list exclusions and this one is on there: "Medical and surgical services, initial and repeat, intended for the treatment or control of obesity, including clinically severe (morbid) obesity, including: medical and surgical services to alter appearances or physical changes that are the result of any surgery performed for the management of obesity or clinically severe (morbid) obesity; and weight loss programs or treatments, whether prescribed or recommended by a physician or under medical supervision." Also at the end it lists a whole bunch of stuff not covered however lap banding isn't in there (where it looks like it would probably fit if not covered). Of course its Sunday night and Cigna is closed and for some reason mycigna.com has been down for me for several weeks. Can anybody help me out with this?

Cigna and 6 mths of dieting?
I have one month left on mine, man I'm getting excited! Were you required to lose a certain amount of weight beforehand or was it just "do 6 months then get the okay"?

Insurance Co. requires 6 months of documented medically supervised wght loss plan
I've read that in the 6-month supervised diet, the first visit does NOT count towards your requirement. Meaning it goes like this: 1st visit: Inform PCP of desire to have Lap Band 2nd-7th monthly visits: Actual 6-month requirement Anybody that knows, is this true? I go in for my 5th PCP visit in the morning but it would only be my 4th after the initial visit.
