Getting There

I did a lot of reseach on the 3 most common bariatric surgeries. The bypass seemed a bit too extreme (though it does seem to offer the highest percent of weight loss overall). There have been so many complications reported with the band - and the idea of going in annually for checks and refills wasn't appealing (plus, the band has the lowest rate of weight loss). I believe I made the right decision going with the sleeve.

My weight loss goal is 130-135 pounds. I'm never going to look like I did when I was in my early 20's (I'm 50 now) and that's OK with me. I really want to have more energy, be healthier, and to better able to enjoy the activities I've loved for most of my life (SCUBA diving, traveling, flying, RV camping, boating, riding horses, etc.).

Changing my lifestyle so drastically wasn't an easy decision. Like most overweight people, I LOVE food. I like going out to restaurants, and trying new things. The nice thing is, with the sleeve, I can still (eventually) go to restaurants and enjoy being out. The difference will be that it will take much less to satisfy my hunger. Adding exercise to my routine is difficult, but I know it will be worth the effort in the long run.

I wish everyone the best of luck on their own weight-loss journey! Here's hoping for few detours and a fast trip to the destination!
