  3. Okay... been through the process all summer long by seeing all the required doctors... Glad that is finally done. I think the most stressful one was the cardiologist. As after the EEG he wanted a stress test. Gawd that was scary, but got the letter from them the week later that everything was "satisfactory" LOL So from then on it was wait to see my surgeon. So today I went!! I am healthy and ready to go, so he told me he had an opening on September 27th.. I was floored!!! Not realizing it cold be this soon. I was thinking October... when you say it in your mind you think... October still a month away... well not anymore, now I'll be "post-op" in October!!! OMG! I am nervous, scared, anxious.. excited!!! I can't really describe all the emotions going on inside me right now. I want to get this started, but still very scared that I can pull it off. I'm so used to eating what I want that to drastically change my life, is very scary. I'm ready, I've been preping myself for weeks, buying and eating Protein, cleaning out the cupboard and unfortunately eating the things I know I'm not gonna be able to have for a long time!! Making recipes that I haven had in awhile. My hubby's loving all my cooking over the summer! He knows life will be different and he's ready too, or so he says... well he's gonna learn real quick. I'm a bit worried about him, but I'm sure he' be alright. When I did Nutrisystems a couple of years ago he had to cook for himself and he did alright, so he'll be fine for a few months again. I will begin the Pre-operative diet on Monday (10 days before surgery) . It's gonna change! As they say at our support groups, it'll be a new normal! I think I'm ready! Any sage advice from anyone who's been here?!?!
  4. Yes I think it does. I'm on 10mg right now and tums as I need a bit of help. If I stay away from the foods that give me heartburn, like acidy foods and chocolate. I'm good. I am starting my dieting, so the chocolate will be going away and I've already eliminated pop. Now I just gotta get moving! LOL...

  6. I am in the "PRE" stages. Haven't had the 1st appt. with Dr. yet. Been doing all the required other dr. visits before he meets with me. BUT today I had my first meet with him while he did a stomach scope. He asked me afterward if I have a lot of heartburn. I said yes, but it's usually controllable up until about 4 months ago and then its been a bit more often (Tums has become my friend ). Noticeable with certain foods, of course. He said with doing the sleeve you get more GERD than with the bypass. I asked why can't I still continue to take prilosec. He said, he needed to review more and we'll discuss when I come in for my consultation. My question to you 'sleevers' is it liveable and does it really continue for a long time? Barb
  7. I am overwhelmed with information at this point too, so exactly where do you buy the protein drinks? At the supermarket? Which area would you find it? Or at a vitiamin/health food store. I would appreciate any direction on where to find these things. I don't have a surgery date yet, still going thru other required appointments, but my thought at this point, is I don't know if I could EVER puree chicken or turkey or the like for protein. Comments on how to get use to this idea?
