  1. My surgery was on August 13th, and I'm down 99 pounds. I've been in a stall for the last week and a half! I started at 315 and I'm 216 today.

    Couch to 5k

I am so excited to learn there is an app for this! I want to do the "Dirty Girl Mud Run" and need to train for it. I have a slight concern in that I had a very bad leg break (double tibia plateau fracture) three years ago and the doc told me I would not/should not run again. I'm thinking that was because of my weight and now I'm 100 pounds lighter so I plan to ease into it and I hope this program will help me do just that.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

NSV...had to go through a 'turnstile' today when entering an event. I fit. I didn't have to go through sideways and I didn't have to walk through the walkaround. Felt so good!

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Hey sleevers, (some TMI) My surgery was the 28th (Tuesday) and I have been so miserable. All I want to do is sleep... I force myself up to walk around the room every hour or two and take deep breaths, half the time using the spirometer. seems like everything makes me throw up even though I am on zofran, I started using the subpositories and it works better... Just had a Popsicle, it was so nice to have a non-nasty taste in my mouth for once and know I'm getting some liquids at the same time. I do have problems with taking all of my meds and vitamins without throwing them back up.. I still have "foam" in my mouth and when I throw up, it's just more foam. Anyway, I just wanted to see if it is a normal thing for us to feel so miserable the first few days or weeks? Thank you! Ps: if this didn't all make sense i blame the drugs! Bethany: I had the same experience. Everything made me nauseous, even gas x strips. They finally gave me Ativan ( sublingual ) and Toradol for pain which is non narcotic. Narcotic pain meds can make you more nauseous. That combo made all the difference for me and I immediately began to feel better. I was throwing that frothy crap, all meds, and anything else I swallowed. The Ativan did the trick. I hope they find something that works for you soon!

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Hey everyone, I'm still in the hospital. I'm three days post op and they are trying to get my blood (ptt) on a therapeutic level before releasing me. The nausea, headaches and other ailments have subsided. I still have a few gas pains the come on hard and then disappear within seconds. I've been upset because I knew I was going to have to stay hospitalized for two nights, but didn't count on four or five nights. It's been a struggle to arrange for childcare because my wonderful husband will not leave my side. So tomorrow is my daughter's sixth birthday and I've been stressing that I am not going to see her or be able to do anything for her. When I talked to her on the phone this afternoon she told me she wanted a piñata to take to school tomorrow for her birthday. I of course told her no way, maybe another day I would make it up to her. My surgeon comes in tonight and I'm begging him to let me go home and tried the sympathy route about my daughter wanting a piñata. He didn't budge, said I may be here one more or two more nights. I want you to know that 2 hours later that man walked back into my room carrying a horse shaped piñata and candy to fill it! He thinks he may release me in the morning so I will be able to surprise my daughter! How's that for a surgeon?

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Well the day is finally here! And of course I've been up since O'dark thirty cause I can't sleep! In a few hours I'll be at the hospital and will begin the next step in this process to better health. It's all in God's hands. See y'all on the loser's bench!

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

dooter, posts on the august sleevers Facebook group page do not show up on our personal page. The only thing that will show is if you individually friend one of us...which you have to friend at least Klyn or Jenn to get on the page. Several of us have " friended" each other but we really only talk about it on the group page where it is all private. Hope that helps.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Question to those that have been sleeved: when you are in the hospital and walking the laps in the hallways, did you need help from a friend or loved one to get around? How about getting in and out of the bed, any difficulty?

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Name: Beth Age: 46 Surgery date: August 13th Surgeon: Dr. Adolpho Fernandez, Winston-Salem, NC Just like so many others, I've struggled with being overweight all my life. I've lost substantial amounts of weight numerous times only to gain it all back, and then some. I researched WLS for years. Only when I recently saw a photograph of myself did I finallly gain the courage to begin the process, dedicating myself to this lifestyle change. I have a fabulous supportive husband and two exhausting wonderful kids, ages 6 and 5. I am looking forward to weaing my original wedding set, answering the phone without someone saying "did you run to the phone?", and of course, spending many fantastic years with my family. I'm on day six of a three week pre-op diet. Thank you to all who post on this board. The information is so very helpful!
