I was told I was not the typical looking patient who got this surgery because of my frame and muscle to fat index. I went ahead with it because I was still very overweight and had colitis. The colitis was the main reason I got it. I paid for it myself because insurance would not. I looked at it as an investment for my future. I had the sleeve done around 7:45 am on April 4th 2012. I was discharged the next day and sent home. I became nauseated and threw up twice. I called the hospital and spoke to the on call doctor who happened to be my doctor. He admitted to me that he must have put it on too tight. So I went back for two days. The nurses had trouble finding veins so they poked me many times. Now I have phlebitis in my right arm. I am now in week 2, and I never imagined the head hunger sucking this bad. I am counting down the days until I can eat something decent and solid again.
