Bought My Plane Ticket! :)
So I bought my plane ticket for my trip to Tijuana on March 14th for my surgery March 15th with Dr. Kelly....I am beginning to feel like this is really going to happen! I am very excited, but also nervous and worried about what will happen here at work while I am gone since I am the only one in the company who knows exactly what I do and how to do it. I have gotten myself off Diet Coke successfully, and now need to get off coffee, but I am planning on starting that around 2/15 so I am done with the withdrawal by the time I go for my surgery. Just had to share my excitement!

My Surgery Was/ Is On________, And I Has/will Conquer________
My surgery is scheduled for March 15, 2012. I am getting very excited but also aprehensive... Like Amanda, I will conquer my fear of meeting new people and my fear of no man ever finding me attractive again. Oh and that my weight is impeding my ability to get ahead at work.

What Is Everyone Looking Forward To?
Wow...it's like I have found my sisters! I am looking forward to: 1. Having more energy 2. Wearing short skirts 3. Seeing my collarbones again 4. Receiving positive male attention 5. Not feeling invisible or frumpy 6. Being able to buy super cute clothes and not having to shop at the big girl stores 7. Wearing sexy lingerie again 8 Having my bras fit 9. Being more active with my six year old son.

How Was Your Experience At Florence Hospital?
I am also booking directly through Dr. Kelly, and am having my surgery on 3/15. I am looking forward to going, and am glad to hear about so many positive things about him and the hospital.

Dr. Kelly No Longer Working With Alightme- Safety Concerns Or Simply Business Issues?
I was originallly booked through Kelly through ALM. Then Sandy contacted me and said there were "issues" and they were no longer booking with him. I changed to Garcia, but then decided I wanted to go with my original choice, Kelly, for a few reasons. I contacted him through his email, and my surgery is scheduled for 3/15. I was not at all impressed by the service I received through ALM, and I did not want to go to Hospital MI. Like anything else, you have to decide what works for you and what is the best decision. I am happy with my decision and looking forward to the surgery. Well as much as you can look forward to major surgery in a foreign country. My s

Nervous About Mexico
I am not super nervous about going to Dr. Garcia...I think I am more worried about how I am going to feel trying to get back home than I am about the actual surgery down there, if that makes sense. Being in a foreign country with English not being the first language is also a little intimidating...but I will have someone with me, and hopefully that will help me feel more comfortable. I did read about a place that did surgery in a strip mall, and then had a private recovery house. I don't think i could do that, but the hospital I am going to is supposed to be very clean and professional, and then the hotel I have looked up on Trip Advisor and it has gotten good reviews. I agree with what everyone has said, you have to do research and pick what is going to be most comfortable for you. It's not for everyone.

Surgery Date Set
I am trying to stick to a low calorie diet, I have gotten to the point where my pants dont fit b/c I think I can eat anything since I am having WLS...NOT! So trying to start now modifying my eating habits. I don't know, I think it's a personal choice but starting to eat better certainly can't hurt. Good luck!

Air Travel
That would be cool. I am going to arrive 3/14, having surgery 3/15. I am excited/nervous/scared...would be great to have someone there going through the same experience! My sister is meeting me there, but not exactly the same...

Air Travel
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think I might invest in the first class ticket, at least that way I annoy less people when I am up and pacing the aisle!

Air Travel
I am having my surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Garcia on March 15th, and have to fly in to San Diego from Seattle, which is about a three hour flight. I am not at all worried about the flight there, but am of course worried about flying six days after I have major surgery. I am wondering what others who had to fly to have surgery did, if there were any issues or if you have any advice for me. My sister who had her sleeve done in December told me it would be fine as long as I had an aisle seat, and I am not sure why an aisle seat would be better....anyway, any advice/stories about how you did would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are You Telling People That Your Having This Surgery?
I am having surgery in March and have told pretty much everyone. I told my boss and coworkers because I will be away from work for two weeks, and in case I need them to be a little understanding when I do return to work...and I have told everyone else close to me so that they are aware. I guess for me it's as much about having to have someone watch my six year old son and help me with him when I get home (single mom). I can see both sides, but for me I am a really open person and it's just easier for me if people are aware. Some people are negative, like my vanpool, one of the people in there told me I should be worried about them harvesting my organs (I am having surgery in Mexico). It's like anything else, you can't control other people, and you have to do what you are comfortable with. But negative people are just....ugh. Annoying.

Dr. Garcia - Tijuana
I was scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Kelly in Tijuana in March, and the Medical Tourism company called me today and told me they are no longer placing patients with him for surgery, and offered to have my surgery done by Dr. Garcia instead. I am wondering if anyone has had surgery with him or has any additional information on him? His credentials look fine but it's a little unnerving to have read a little bit about Dr. Kelly's troubles on the board yesterday, and then have this happen today where they change my surgeon. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.
