  1. Great job! congratulations. Keep up the good work.
  2. Had mine on August 4 at South Bay Kaiser. Don't sweat the approval, the doctor will most likely approve it. At the required meeting with the doctors (all the patients planning surgery in a period) the only reason they said they would deny was someone 100 or more pounds overweight, over the age 60 and had some sort of condition which would indicate they would not be able to follow through with the dietary requirements.
  3. My wife was opposed and my son just stayed neutral though wife tried to make him negative with wrong ideas. Remember you are doing it for yourself and them. By being at a healthy weight you can enjoy your family more as well as feel better. I was somewhat fortunate, my insurance company recommended but didn't require counseling but I did have to go through an eight week course that prepared me. Remember you are doing it for your long term health.
  4. Good job. My original goal was to get to 150 pounds but modified to 180 pounds for two reasons: First if I loose much more my body shape will be way to thin and I am getting women commenting on how I look now telling me to now lose to much, second my personal physician 180 is about as low as I should go for my height and bone structure. Again congratulations on your accomplishment.
  5. It took me two weeks post surgery to drink water, I found juices and popcicles worked for me.
  6. Sure my wife doesn't like it when women who knew me at 305 now see a much thinner man and compliment me however that doesn't mean they want to go out with me. Hopefully she will join me
  7. Basically it is stomach stapling. Just browse internet you will find some utube videos. They take a staple gun and go down middle of stomach making it smaller than remove the outside portion. Surgery only takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Unlike bypass you have no obstruction going into stomach and have full intestinal track to absorb vitamins and minerals.
  8. You go to Disneyland, I did today, get in the seat and fasten the belt without sucking in the gut
  9. When you pull out the fanny pack for Disneyland, the one you stretched the last millimeter out of to fit around your waist and now get to pull out a few feet so it is small enough to fit around your waist. Better realizing you need to cut off the slack because the belt is way to big.
  10. I am really enjoying hearing all these stories. I need to get new pictures for my credit cards the clerks are starting to look real hard to identify me
  11. When you can go into penny's and buy a 44R sport coat off the rack when last suit was a 54R. When you realize your mpg is going up due to less weight being carried in the car.
  12. When the suit you had altered 3 weeks ago is now to big, again! And when going tomorrow for Men's Wearhouse two for one sale you will have only one tailored now and the other in another month
  13. You can cross the street before the red hand stops blinking
  14. When you take a new home sleep study and can turn in your CPAP machine! :)
  15. When you can comfortably sit in an airplane seat without needing a seat belt extender
  16. When you pull out your High School Graduation and College Graduation Rings from long ago (just say more than 20) and need to have them reduced in size.
  17. When you walk from car to store with your 20 year old athletic son and an attractive woman walking back to her car looks over her shoulder three times smiling at you and your son gives you a look of wonder.
  18. When you can look down and see your feet
  19. When for years you had a hard time finding pants with a 54 inch waist and go to Macy's and can't find pants with a waist under 40 inches without looking at every tag to find 38 inches.
  20. Fun thread. You know you lost weight when You have to get new shoes because they are to wide for the feet.
  21. Good luck. Get you fridge stocked ahead of time but just samples until you know what you like and can tolerate.
  22. Yes, kaiser views it as medical necessity started at 305 lbs surgery at 235 lbs. Zero copayment. And if medical necessity by doctor they will do adominoplasty free
  23. Wish you well. You might ask if they do lapriscopic to record the video and get the disk so if there are complications a surgeon in US can review the procedure.
  24. I was same way. Surgery on Thursday running fever Saturday and on Sunday I felt great. Good luck on your venture. Just three weeks out and belt size went from 40 to 36.
