  1. I am 7 weeks post op tomorrow ..... I have lost 29 lbs so far post op (no pre-op diet). I lost 20 lbs the first month .... and these last 3 weeks have seemed to be BRUTAL ... very slow weight loss of 2 -3 lbs a week and MINIMUM food intake .... but as my husband keeps telling me at least I am losing ..... Weird thing is I am still in the SAME SIZE CLOTHES!!!!!!!!!!! Where is the weight loss going / coming from??!?!?!?!?! ANd NO ONE HAS NOTICED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I was sleeved Feb 8 Tuesday and have to admit is was much worse than I thought. I started at 250 lbs at 5'9" .. BMI of 37. Still in a lot of pain and highly restricted - haven't left house and don't plan it. Trouble sleeping ... feel SO SWOLLEN and BLOATED ... and definately feel HUNGY!? REALLY HUNGRY!!!!!!!! I am drinking lots ...staying hydrated .... taking it easy .... BUT WANT A CHEESEBURGER SO BAD! Had no liquid diet pre-op ... so I am on Day 5 .. have tried variety .. broths, cream Soups, Protein shakes, jello's, drinkable yogurt , frozen pops, lots of fluids .... what is going on? Trying to get protein in to fill me up ... maybe 10 grams a day at this point - only 5 days out .. but??? And really hurting .... sore belly .. tender abdomin ... been rough. I had read so many pleasant recovery stories that I really thought it would be different - easier I guess post -op. Your thoughts? Thanks!

    hot flushes

AM 6 days post and have been "sweating" through my bed sheets - changed 3 times last night .... am only 35 so not pre-menopausal ... figure my body is in SHOCK so just trying to go with the flow? Glad to have some company on this crazy journey:-)
  4. My surgery is in early Feb .. just wondering what people's experience has been about the benefits / disadvantages about "coming" out to friends and family about "going under the knife". I can see both sides ... great to have support .. but you might get so many negative opinions. I am certainly doing this for myself ... but am not good at lying. Your thoughts?
  5. My NUT has not mentioned calories also. Just getting in enough Protein (64g daily) and fluids. I am only 6 days out ...but have spoken to NUT several times and have long term diet plans. Again, no talk of calories.
  6. Thanks for all the great thoughts! Really appreciate it.
  7. I am 5 days post op and am having great difficulty sleeping. My drain was removed in Hosp. before discharge ..but I find the pain meds are hindering / not helping .. so I use as little as possible. I too have high pain threshold (living with IBS for 20+ years) but have taken to napping frequently. My pain in left of bellybutton .. completely localized in that incision. It is more bruised than others, so ??? My surgery took 4+ hours ... need to remember we had a lot of trauma done to ourselves. Do not look behind you ... look ahead. Your decision was already made (and non-reversible!) so concentrate on focusing on the wonderful new steps you will be taking towards a healthy life. Good luck - I certainly share your pain. No pain / no gain (or loss) .. right?

    Tomorrow is my day!

So excited for you .... be positive ... all good thoughts .... I get sleeved in 6 days ....my good thoughts and prayers are with you for speedy recovery .. no complications .... successful weightloss and longterm results that last a lifetime! May you get everything you wish for from the surgery ... and MORE! A lifetime of happiness!
  9. My surgeon told me I DID NOT NEED TO do any pre-op diet because I am not that big (I have NEVER heard that before! ). I am 250 lbs but taller ... BMI is 37-38. I am being sleeved in exaclty one week - Feb 8. So here is my dilemma .... I was going to do the liver shrinking diet anyway for one week before surgery .... it could not hurt, right? I could "sample" the protein shakes, start getting my body ready for surgery, be healthier for surgery, shrink the liver for an easier surgery, have a possible speedier recovery, get used to the liquid diet aspect, stop GORGING myself thinking this is my LAST HOORAH - which I seem to have been doing almost daily - almost like my last supper / last meal ... every meal! .... and this week could be the start of so many other positives. Yet, I tried to begin yesterday with Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes and OMG ..... I got so gassy and so much stomach pain ... has anyone else experienced this? I was seriously in so much pain and had terrible gas issues. Not to mention I was very hungry that after a shake and a fruit for breakfast ... then a shake and veggies for lunch .... at dinner I had a chicken pot pie and a hershey bar! I was STARVING and in so much pain from the gas. And I think to myself - doctor knows best - so why bother sacrificing if he says I don't have to. Why give up now what I will be giving up for the rest of my life? Is it worth taking away the food this week? I would appreciate your thoughts .. especially if you have gone through this. THANKS! Only one week left .... WOW! Just one week .. so excited!
  10. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who posted a reponse .. this was my VERY FIRST TIME using this site .. even SEEING this sight and I certainly JUMPED right in. I appreciate everyone's comments and feedback. No judgement, no wrong nor right ... just life as we live, love, and learn. We are all doing the best we can. Again, thanks to all! 15 days until my surgery!
  11. Thanks so much the 2 responses. Any advice / feedback you can share with me about your experiences would be SO APPRECIATED!!!!!! How long were you in hosp? How long until you were up and about? What was recovery like? How was your pain level? Just thinking about the days and week (s) post-op and how I will manage with my kids / home, etc.... Thanks so much!
