  1. Thank you so much! I have my information seminar at the hospital on Saturday, 1/22. Do you suggest that I call UHC and ask to speak to a nurse coordinator before that? I am just trying to stay ahead of the game
  2. Have you tried journaling at all? I am just in the beginning of my journey, so I am nowhere near my surgery day. I find that writing down my feelings and getting everything out without having to worry about someone else's reactions is helpful. Good luck to you!
  3. So, I got the list of requirements from UHC today. My plan requires a BMI of 40 or over, or a BMI of 35 to 40 with two co-morbidity conditions. My BMI is 40.8. Another requirement is one year of weight managment effort medically documented by my physician. Monthly visits were not required. I have never been in a medical weight loss program, but my doctor is well aware of my weight loss efforts. I have been seeing the same doctor since 2002, and we have discussed my weight at length. She referred me to Weight Watchers, as well as discussing diet and exercise. I have a gym membership and I am also registered with an online weight managment program (Spark people). I am meeting with my doctor tomorrow to see if she will put all this in a letter for me. Do you think this will be enough to satisfy UHC??
  4. Hey everyone! I am scheduled to attend a seminar at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH on 1/22. I have UHC and I've been reading about other people's experiences in regard to that provider. I'm kind of nervous that I may be denied coverage for the surgery, or I may have to wait 6 months or longer. If there is anyone on this forum that had their surgery in Ohio, or has UHC, could you please give me some guidance? Thank you!
  5. Hey there, I found this forum today and have been reading the posts. I've been thinking about having surgery for a while. Like so many others, my weight has been a lifelong struggle. I think that surgery would be a tool to help me get my life back. I miss feeling good and being active. I have so many questions....hopefully many of which will be answered at the seminar I am attending on 1/22/11. I am excited to start this journey, I just hope I get approved!
