  1. Hello, I have UHC and I'm from the Columbus areas as well. I am going through Barix Clinics and I am currently going through a 6 month supervised diet plan with my physician before they will approve it. Otherwise, I was told I meet all of the criteria..I am 30 years old, have a BMI of 40+ and also was just diagnosed with high blood pressure 2 months ago. So, all of that being said, my UHC nurse care coordinator has told me that I shouldn't have any problem getting approved once I meet the 6 months, which I'm half way there..My last appointment with my Dr for this is the end of April. I am expecting to get approved easily as UHC advised me this is the last thing I have to meet. It certainly depends on your employer and what they chose so you just need to call UHC and ask them what the requirements are for bariatric surgery. Good luck!!
  2. ;)Dee, that's really cool that we both are going to have our surgery around May!! I am very excited about it too!! I am going to keep going to the gym and try to improve my eating habits as well. Eat smaller portions and take smaller bites..like we'll have to once we have surgery. Thanks everyone for your replies, I am excited to have some buddies to talk to during this process...it was great hearing from all of you
  3. I am just starting my 6 month physician supervised diet/exercise regimen....should be able to have my surgery in May 2011..anyone else at this stage of the game? I have UHC and this is the last requirement that I have to meet.....I am trying to focus on the good things to come and not on the long wait that I have....
  4. Hello, I am new to this site and forum. I too was just advised that I must do the 6 month supervised diet/exercise with my physician. I am not surprised b/c that is what was written in my company's policy and I have UHC. I am okay with the 6 months....that means I will have surgery in May sometime probably and the weather will be really nice. I am going to keep exercising and trying to lose some weight prior to surgery. I currently weigh around 293 and I'm 30 years old. Thanks for posting...this helps keep me sane.
