  1. Hi Vicky, My name is Vickie also. I was sleeved on November 10, 2010. It was the most wonderful thing I ever did for myself! Yes it is a roller coaster of emotions and physical differences but WELL WORTH every moment of discomfort or feeling like you want to eat more than you are able. I have discovered that I can have a bite or two of anything I want and that satisfies the cravings that caused me to balloon to 284 pounds at 4'11" tall. I have lost 116 pounds to date and plan to lose 30 more. I am at the point where I have to work harder (exercise) to continue on the weight loss journey. All obstacles are meant to either be climbed over or bulldozed through. You will be amazed at the difference in your life in the weeks and months ahead! I can do so many things that for years were impossible for me to do. I am 57 and have a new lease on life. My family is amazed! You go girl. The best days of your life are starting right now. Good luck and God Bless! The Bible says" I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength"!
  2. Hi guys! Sorry not to post for so long. My surgery was delayed because my husband had a massive stroke and a heart attack on Oct. 16. My surgery was scheduled for the 20th. By God's grace he survived and finally came home on Nov.8. I had surgery on Nov. 10 and I'm walking on air I'm so happy. In 10 days I've lost 10.4 pounds and yesterday I cleaned out my closet and gave away all my "fat" clothes! Everything just hangs! First week was a little hard because I don't care for broth but second week much better. Minimal pain except my left side at night. I am convinced this is the best thing I ever did for myself and therefore for my family. No more pain in my knees and ankles ALREADY!
  3. That's wonderful! Good luck to you.
  4. That's great! Let's do keep in touch.
  5. Hey guys! I'm so excited. I finally got a surgery date for October 20, 2010. To date I've lost 14 pounds on the high protein shake diet. My nutritionist says I should lose between 80 to 110 pounds with surgery. It seems impossible but I'm willing to do my part. I realize that this surgery is a "tool" to become a healthier person. It's not a magic wand and I still have to work at it with following all the instructions, exercise, etc. My day is finally almost here and I am more than ready. I would appreciate all of your prayers! Thanks and God Bless!
  6. That's fantastic! You're doing great.

  13. You are so right. Even when I am "dieting" I think about food all the time. I tell myself it is only so I can be "prepared" with the right choices but it is still just FOOD! have you had surgery yet? I am new to this website and still learning my way around.

  17. Thanks I'll try it. I mixed up the chocolate advantage shake today, put it in the freezer for 10 minutes and it was pretty creamy. I CAN DO THIS!
  18. Hi, I'm Vickie. My journey to a new and healthy me is just starting. I hope to have the vertical sleeve done in October. About five years ago, when I first heard about the lap band, I was excited. After months of jumping through insurance hoops, I was told "we won't pay". Then this year my daughter had the gastric bypass and has done very well. I decided to try again, but at her doctor's office I heard about the vertical sleeve. Through a series of miracles and I mean "miracles", I have the funds needed. I started the liquid diet today and need help with ideas to make the "shake" drinkable. Thanks!
