  1. Congrats! Our surgeries were very close to the same date. I had mine on 3/24/10. I have a similar story to you in that my body was so weak those first few weeks that all I wanted to do is stay in bed. This week I started taking a Zumba class. It's pretty hard but also fun. I have a lot more energy than I had a couple weeks ago. The weight is not coming off as fast as I have seen others come off. I have lost about 21 pounds post surgery and 20 pounds pre-op. My weight has stayed the same for the last week and a half. I'm not eating much and I'm exercising so this is puzzling to me. Only thing I can think of is that I don't eat enough which is really hard to do and I haven't been getting enough fluids in. I will try to drink more next week to see if I can get the scale moving again. I have gone down a size in pants and tops so maybe I am just losing inches for now which is fine with me. Best of luck to you and keep me posted on your progress and I will you as well!
  2. doing much better today than yesterday. guess if I can say that everyday it is a good sign! the only real pain I still have is the main incision site, the biggest one. it feels like someone punched me in the gut and I have to hold that area when I get up or sit down but all in all much better than a few days ago. Now I am so excited about shopping this summer. what was your average weight loss in the first 3 months? thanks!!

  3. Hey! Love the new pic! I am feeling so much better today. I won't lie, I wasn't expecting it to hurt quite so much but everyday is getting better and better. Today I actually felt hungry for the first time since surgery on Wed. Still very sore but I'm so excited about getting healthy and losing weight. I had gained about 4 pounds after surgery... I guess with the swelling and stuff. When I weighed this morning I was down 7 pounds from that number which means I am down almost 4 pounds from my surgery weight. I am so excited about that. I know I can get thru the pain seeing the scale go down and down. Thanks for your support. I'm fixing to post a message on the boards about my experience and tell people to make sure their spouse knows their blood type. LOL I lost a lot of blood when an artery was knicked and it was in a place where my surgeon could not turn the scope around to view it without doing more damage so he had to go back in thru my belly button to find the bleed

  4. Tiffy,

I'm having my surgery tomorrow! :-) I am so excited and nervous. I will post when I get home from the hospital. Thanks for all your help/advice. I truly appreciate it! Wish me luck!

  5. great news. thanks for the info!
  6. Has everyone who has had this surgery had a drain? My surgeon does not use them and now I am worried that I'm missing out on something I should have. I have the pre-op jitters. lol My surgery is 3/24th.

    I can't wait!!!!

My surgery is scheduled for March 24th so we are going to be going through this at the same time. I too and SO excited to start my new life! I'm so glad we have this site to be a part of. It has been so helpful and everyone is so nice. :-) Good luck with your surgery!
  8. I want to be able to take my kids to a waterpark. I'm so tired of saying "we're going to do this or that after mommy loses weight". I've been saying that for a long time and now they are 12 and 10 and I don't want to miss out on anymore of their lives!

    March 2010 Surgeries

My surgery is scheduled for March 24th. It will be nice to keep track of eachother's progress. My doctor's office has all their WLS patients do a 2 week pre-op of protein shakes, salads and fruits and vegetables. I have really been dreading this. I start this on March 10th. I have been doing pretty good but the idea of protein shakes for 2 weeks seems hard. Guess I will have to get used to how I will be having to eat afterwords. I know I can do it. :-)

so i told two people today...

I can so relate to your post. People just don't understand that have not been struggling with obesity for the majority of their life. Someone at work asked why I am still having this surgery when I have lost 17 pounds now. Yes, I know how to lose. I have lost the same 30 pounds about 5 times in the last 5 years and always gain back more. I need this surgery to help me keep it off and I am losing now because I know that it will be the last time I will have to lose this weight. I appreciate everyone on this forum. It's nice to know you're not alone. :-)
  11. Congrats! You look awesome! Can't wait to get there myself. :-)
  12. I am so happy for you! I have been reading your posts and you are truly inspiring to me. I am in the first steps of the VSG surgery process and my husband is still skeptical about it. He just smiled when I showed him your pics. He hasn't been able to hold me for over a decade... at least I haven't let him try. I am so excited about finally making this decision and can't wait to start my new life. God bless you for being such a blessing to us that are about to start our journey. Thanks for making me smile! :-)
