  2. we got here today with another really nice lady....and i'm losing it. i didn't think i would be this scared! the hospital is nice and so is the hotel, the doctor's were younger than i expected, and maybe not as warm as i hoped? maybe it's in my head. i'm terrified! i didn't know about this spinal tap thing, what if i can't walk!?!?! did anyone else feel this afraid? i can't stop crying it's awful!
  3. so i go tomorrow! eeek! and i'm getting everything ready....i'm not bringing my cell phone, the bf is bringing his so it's less to keep track of and worry about for me....but i SWORE there's a number for the driver...you know, like a number you can call if there's an issue and your driver is late or something ya know? but i can't find it in any of my paperwork. am i just crazy? do any of you have the number!?!?
  4. I'm much more concerned with pain levels. I have done fasts for 21 days so I'm familiar with not eating and low calorie intakes for long periods of time. So I feel confident I can get through that! But what about pain and discomfort? What are the pain mess I should pick up in Mexico? And how soon should i start with the gas x strips and such? Also a little off topic....I should pick up a bunch of nexium while in Mexico...no?
  5. i have surgery jan 5th, then recovery in the hospital until the 8th when i fly back home....i took the next day off work and was hoping i could return the 11th, or 12th. i tattoo, so i pretty much just sit all day. no lifting, and i have a shop helper that does all my set up and clean up. i don't get paid sick days so i would like to get back to work asap... any advice?
  6. I will be in Mexico this time next week! I am so excited! I started my pre-op today, i am a vegetarian....so high Protein low carb is SOOOOO hard for me! I had about 40 carbs today....pretty good for a start i think....it's so hard, but i can do it. I can't even begin to imagine life afterwards, I hope to be so much happier and healthier! Thank you to everyone for the encouragement and advice! Anyone have any last minute tips....or maybe a list of must-haves for the hospital??? Love to all of you!
  7. my weight is still going up!!!! over the last month or two i've ained 13lbs!!!! i feel so scred about this. my surgery date is 2 1/2 weeks, and i can't seem to get a grip on my weight. i feel SO afraid i will be denied when i get there!
  8. what about dr aceves...do any of you know what size he uses? i have never heard of this bourgie(sp?) thing!!!!
  9. my surgery date is january 5th....one month!!!! i am having surgery with dr aceves. i'm really worried about losing weight before the procedure. it seems like all of you lost weight before your procedure....but my weight has been fluctuating a lot lately...mostly on the up swing :mad0: i asked monica and she said if i gained a little weight it shouldn't be a problem....but it still concerns me. i just started a new BC, and hormone fluctuations cause weight gain with me....and the holidays!!! did any of you gain a little weight before your surgery? complications? help? ps: I am 5'3 and 250lbs
  10. my theighs were very sensitive yes! but not the worst! it's all relative! if you want it bad enough it will be worth it!
  11. thank you again for the support from everyone! the forum is wonderful!!!
  12. Are any of you tattooed? Heavily? Moderately? I'm a tattoo artist, and I wonder what will happen to my tattoos after I lose weight. Most of my tattoos are on my arms, lower legs, chest, neck, etc. I haven't gotten my stomach or any really fatty areas tattooed. I know it's weird for someone that actually tattoos to be asking this question. And I know a 50lb weight loss or gain doesn't really tend to affect them. BUT I'm 245, and only 5'3....so I need or want to lose about 110lbs! That's a lot to change on my body. Do any of you have experiences to share????
  13. thank you everyone! i can't wait for my surgery!!!
  14. wow! ijust can't imagine a world without hunger! i love food so much. i hope i can get to that point. i just never ever feel full....my stomach controls me! i'm excited to get control of my life! susan....how was it for you doing dr aceves's pre-op diet. i'm a vegetarian so i'm kind of worried. i plan on mostly eating eggs, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, regular cheese and some shrimp....although i hate fish! so many doctors recomend different things before surgery. it's really confusing. i'm worried my liver will fail the test!!! SOOOOO much to worry about!
  15. that's great to know! does everyone experience this sensitivity to sweets? what about time for digestion/feeling hungry again? I feel like I digest things so fast and I'm hungry in an hour or two! It sucks!
  16. I'm not post surgery yet, but I will be soon. I've always been overweight since 1st grade! I've always made pretty good food choices though, just the wrong portions.I do however have the biggest sweet tooth!!!! I like to eat something sweet after almost every meal! Can anyone offer advice about how to get away from this? how were your sweet cravings after surgery? how much candy/cookies whatever, can you stomach NOW? I'm hoping my need for sweet will diminish after surgery.... advice please!
  17. Thank you to everyone for the encouragement! I'm trying to do meal planning, to figure out how to get 80g of Protein into 800 calories/day. Thank you so much for answering some of my concerns tiff! I have a few more for everyone... Can anyone recommend some good Protein shakes? How long do you usually stay full after you eat? How is this compared to before the sleeve? thank you for support!
  18. Hi! I'm new to the forum, and I have so many questions! I've been going over the forum for weeks and weeks, and it's been a great help, but I decided to join to get some of my own fears and concerns answered! I am getting sleeved January 5th by Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. *I've been over-weight my whole life! Like....since 1st grade, it's been a lifetime battle. I was in weight watchers at age 10! I can't tell you how bad that sucks!!!!! Nothing has ever worked for me. I have never been able to stick to a diet for more than a few months. And I have always been the "fat girl". Will I be able to stick to this? Does it really help you stop feeling hungry? So much of my hunger is "head hunger", I just want taste, will this surgery help me over-come that knowing that I can't eat like I used to? *I'm also a vegetarian. I was raised vegetarian, and have no tolerance for meat. Can anyone suggest good foods for vegetarians that will help me lose? I eat waaaaay too many carbs! I'm really scared I won't lose because my love of carbs!!! Any suggestions? *How long do you stay full on such a small food intake??? I eat SOOO often now, every couple hours! Food controls my life, I want to break this cycle. I'm a self pay patient and I'm terrified that this won't work for me. Can anyone help???
