  2. Hi, I have an eight-year-old boy and almost three-year-old girl and had VSG on July 28. My husband did most of the lifting work and such with the little one until he had his VSG on Aug 4 (one week after I did). My little one really likes to be held so we would just have her crawl up to us either in a chair or on the bed to snuggle with her. My doc request no lifting for two weeks and the light lifting after that until we were fully healed. I really worried about how things would go with the little one but they weren't bad at all....it's just trying to figure things out. The surgery itself isn't bad as it's done laparascopically (sp?). I had my surgery on Tuesday and was driving my oldest to summer camp on Friday. All in all this was excellent experience and would do it over again. Best of luck to you! Jill
  3. Ann, So sorry to hear about your clot!! I had a DVT during my second pregnancy and the way it was described to me was that the clot does break up, some, and gets smaller, but never goes away. Your body reroutes the blood flow in some way. I was on Lovenox through my pregnancy and for about 6 weeks after my c-section. About four weeks after my VSG surgery I developed a Portal Vein Thrombosis and will now be on Coumadin for life. Kind of sucks b/c I am only 33 yrs old, but if it means being around long enough for my kiddos then I am ok with it. Did your doc say how long you will be on coumadin? Hope things get better for you. I remember that pain....it should get better soon especially on the Lovenox. Best wishes, Jill

    First Procedure

My mother recently had a TT done and on one of her last follow-up visits she mentioned to her PS that my husband and I had just had VSG. He said that when we are ready for surgery to come see him b/c one of the hospitals he works with is a teaching hospital and our surgeries could be done by PS's in training with supervision at a lower fee. Mom had students do rounds on her before and after surgery but they didn't do the surgery. I so want a TT!!! It will be something worth looking into! Also, I had a breast reduction back in 2003 and insurance paid with no problems. I didn't need additional documentation that I had had rashes or anything like that, but it also could have been in the way that my doctor worded his letter to our insurance company.

    I think I had a gallbladder attack!

I had my gallbladder removed three weeks after the birth of my first child. My first attack was when I was pregnant....hit me in the middle of the night, horrible pain and discomfort. Called and woke doc up and she told me to take a Zantac. I didn't know it was a gallbladder attack until my second, and last attack, that landed me in the emergency room. The pain was relentless and there was nothing that would make it go away. I had so many stones blocking my bile duct they had to do a procedure to crush them prior to having my gallbladder removed. The removal was very much like the sleeve procedure as far as the laparascopic thing so it really wasn't that bad. I guess I would say that it was a good three months between attacks, but I hear that's not that case for everyone. I feel for you b/c that pain is no fun AT ALL!! Hope you are able to get it taken care of without too much discomfort. Jill
  6. Hey Jenn, Congratulations on choosing the VSG! I had my sleeve done on July 28 and my husband was sleeved yesterday. I am glad that your dietician gave you some support and eased your worries! As far as the Protein shakes go, your tastes do change after surgery. Before surgery I really liked that Slim Fast Carb Light but now they are really sweet for me. Needless to say I am on a search for one I like. Since my hubby and I are doing this together we bought several different kinds of drinks prior to surgery. Can't decide what I am going to try next. Before surgery my hubby would eat, or at least try, anything so I am anxious to see how his taste buds change. Just try to avoid buying a whole lot of one thing and try to get samples. This forum has a great deal of resources and you also have to added bonus of a dietician. When will you know if your doc will do the surgery? Keep up the hard work and you'll do great!! Jill

    Operation VSG was a success!

I am feeling much better! Thanks to all. The walking helped a great deal. Now if my headache, slight nausea, and running back and forth to the restroom (if you get my drift) would end I would be great!! I am also tired (noticed this conversation on another thread) so I am trying get as much rest as I can before my hubby has his surgery this coming Tuesday. We have two kiddos, a seven- and two-year old, who run us ragged and our primary motivation to have the surgery. Dr. Matthew St. Laurent out in Cypress is our surgeon. We absolutely love and respect him!

    Operation VSG was a success!

Thanks for your suggestions!! I have done some walking but will be doing more and will certainly try the heating pad. Carol- my surgery was yesterday...can't believe how time flies. Linda- love the pun....need smiles in place of gas!!
  11. This time tomorrow I will be a newly sleeved chic and I can't wait!! I feel like I can't stop watching the clock and the passing hours. I'll be surprised if I sleep at all tonight I am just that excited! My husband will be sleeved a week from tomorrow and he is just a little more nervous than I am, but that's his nature.....he's the more rational thinker between the two of us. I think that I am so calm about this because of everything I have read on this forum......you all are wonderful and I look forward to the continued support!! ~Jill

    Tomorrow is the big day

Thanks everyone for the well wishes!!! Judy, I am staying close to home and having my surgery here in Houston.
  13. It's hard to explain why I would would want to shop at Victoria's Secret to someone who doesn't share the same desire. I want to shop at any place, regardless of cost, that I can't shop at right now.....why, because my size has kept me from those places. Another thing is that it's not about status or cost b/c no one but my husband and I see what I got from VS. It's just one of those things.....
  14. I want to be able to cross my legs without having to prop the top leg on something to keep them crossed. I want to be a hot mamma that my kids are proud of....not that they aren't now, but things change as they get older. I, too, want to shop at Victoria's Secret. I don't want to shop at Lane Bryant anymore. I want to wear all of my cute heels and have my feet not kill me within 30 minutes. I want to get out of bed without my back and feeting hurting. I know there are so many other things that I want to do, but these are the things that are pretty high on my list.
  15. Hello everyone!! I have been 'lurking' around this site for the last few weeks trying to get as much information as possible on the sleeve. I was going back and forth between the band or the sleeve but with all of your helpful information, along with support from my doc, I chose the sleeve. Saw my doc this morning and have a surgery date for July 28. WHOOOO HOOOO!!! I am so excited that I don't think there is room for nerves. Not really sure how I am going to make it until the 28th but I am sure that I'll make it just fine.:001_smile: I am, however, a little worried about getting the eating thing right, as far as the right clear and full liqiuids, etc. Either way I am just so stinkin' excited!! My husband will have his sleeve done on Aug 4. This will be an awesome journey!!!
