I started out with the band - long story - was going to get it in 2005, then again this year. However, the more I read about the VSG, the more I wanted to get it. So - I did - on 17 April. (Actually I had two operations on the same day - thryoid out and VSG.) I was OK, then had complications... something wasn't right. It turned out that I was on the wrong meds. They gave me Prevacid and it didn't really protect my stomach lining at all. After changing to Nexium, I began to feel human again - and have gotten better and better. Even with the complication, I'm glad I got this. It's definitely harder to recover from the VSG than the lapband, but I'm pretty sure it will be worth it in the long run. (BTW, I've lost over 40 pounds so far! :-) If you want to see the actual operation, follow this link: Vanderbilt University Medical Center? This is from Vanderbilt; my doctor is Dr. Melvin (on the left). God bless you in your decision, whatever it is!
