  2. I am very adamant about fiber, even to the point where I try to advocate it as much as possible. I strive for NO LESS than 14g fiber per day. Hi Protein diets are all well and good, but not when it comes to negating a prime nutrient our bodies absolutely needs - and that is fiber. Believe me, if you aren't going then you are holding on to pounds worth of poop!! So, going daily will keep you lighter just as good as Hi Protein. I go every single day. Some days its not all that great but I still go, and I won't change a thing. Fiber Choice chews are really good. They are not bad in carbs as compared to some chews. I also have one thing a day that supplies a hefty dose, such as Hi Fiber oatmeal or Fiber One chew bars. Drinking more than your daily minimum (64 oz.) Water also is a must!

  4. Honestly I've told her all these things. For some reason she's just taking what her Dr. told her and not doing anything more about it. She's either not fully on board with getting the surgery or was never really totally serious. It's her decision to make, so I don't really bother her with it anymore. If she tries to fight for it though in the future I will be there for her 100%.
  5. Ok let me try this again... guess it got overloaded the first time... LOL Tops
  6. That is great news BlaqBeary!! I know you have been waiting a long time. You will see it's going to fly by now!!
  7. I was drinking Breakfast black tea around that time post op. I used Stash or TAZO. It has a good amount of caffeine. I'm not sure what your surgeon suggests though, so this is just what I did.
  8. Well folks, it's that time again! Time to sign up for the next go round!! I'd sincerely like to congratulate everyone who made their goals for New Years, those who passed and those who even came close!!! It's tough, I know that - especially being it's the Holidays and all. Not only that, the challenge still has a few days left - so good luck if you are close!!! I personally will make sure I pick a goal that's more feasible this time! I probably could have made goal if I tried a little harder. Though I always have fun during this time of year, but it's over now. Time to get serious!!! Good luck everybody!! ***Just copy and paste from the last post to add your name, or when you need to make an update.*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal LilMissDiva.....235..................235.............220..............15
  9. It makes perfect sense that you would be thirsty. A lot of Water and fluids actually used to come from the foods we used to eat. Well, now you're not eating hardly anything. You have to get all of your fluids from your water or whatever you are drinking. Take it one day at a time. It does get easier every day. I used to be constantly thirsty too in my first few weeks out from surgery. I drink tons of water now, and I can now eat as well. I'm no longer slightly dehydrated and my thirsty mouth no longer bothers me.
  10. Hugs SrSleever!! I totally feel you on a lot of that. My husband weighs 210 Lbs. You better believe I'm looking forward to being 209... but the booger is deciding its time to diet now. LOL!! I told him wait awhile on that... Haaa!!!
  11. If your mushy stage is the same as mine was, then yes. It was any kinds of meat pureed like (I didn't eat raw anything though). Just mush it up really good with your favorite fixins - mine was lite mayo and enjoy I didn't really eat spicy until I was a few months out, but that was just because I felt weird about it. Like it burns my mouth, and gives me heartburn, what's it doing to my healing stomach? Again, that was just in my own head though...
  12. That is so true chilo. As a matter of fact, there is a little segment about just how far our brains WILL make us go to ward of starving and hunger... it's pretty amazing. It's really worth the watch if anyone can find it on their DVR and set to watch it.
  13. Welcome to the forum kk! Thank you for sharing your story with us! I really loved this quote, and especially how it ended. Everyone in your life deserves you at your best - and most especially YOU! Hugs to you. Keep checking in and read up as much as you can. This place is amazing and super helpful!
  14. Welcome!!! Here's hoping you have a smooth Pre-Op and even more easy Post-Op!! Everyone here is so great for support and help. I've been helped so much here and now I'm starting to settle in with what I've done. I'll continue to work hard every day and accept any NSV and weight that drops off always, with the help of everyone here.
  15. Hi blossom, welcome to the forum - and most of all, welcome to the rest of your life! You know, it actually took me over a year to finally come to the realization that my band failed me miserably and I needed something more permanent and not so friendly. I knew about the surgery for years now, but not before being banded. Oh how I wish I had!! Oh well it was not in the cards. Well, finally I made that decision all the while gaining all my weight back and watching so many being successful with the sleeve. Dr. Aceves did my revision, and you will absolutely LOVE HIM and HIS STAFF!!! Only call if you are 110% sure though, and only then. It's no walk in the park, but worth every scrape you get from it. NIna, who is such a blessing, will help you every step of the way. She's totally great! Hugs to you!!!
  16. Thanks everybody!! It feels sooo great to be losing, and as far as body - losing FAST!! sassy, thank you lady!! I hope by the time I reach goal I can shave off another decade too!
  17. Congratulations... I totally agree with mommy - you truly do not look at all like someone who needs to lose weight. You look very fit - and happy!! You outfit is great too!!
  18. Welcome smj!! Continue reading up here and posting, you will find so much help - you probably won't have enough time to get through all the posts! It is true, the skin will do what it wants. However to "help" you can keep up with the toning of your muscles. It does help some - and time will help too. Over time your skin can shrink back even if a little bit. Patience will be your very best friend with this surgery!! We will be second on the list.
  19. Hi shy and welcome to VST!! I'm just wondering, you mentioned you are already feeling hunger... because TG I did not during the post op diet phase. Are you on any kind of Acid reducer or blocker? I think this helps a great deal with feeling hollow or hungry inside. I rarely even feel hunger to this day. I only eat because my brain reminds me it's time. Once in awhile my stomach will gurgle and feel empty, but really is not often. In fact that happened just right now. It's 10 AM and I'm just now finishing my oatmeal. I totally forgot to eat at my normal 8AM. Talk to your surgeon about this. I'm curious why not all Doctors prescribe this for post op Sleeve patients. If you are, then it could be you are curbing your hunger with mostly carbohydrates. You will get hungrier and much faster doing this. If you eat carbs, make sure they are high in Fiber. It does fill you up good and it will stick with you much longer. Either that or snack on Protein filled foods. Also, be very careful with eating foods that are not on your allowed foods yet. Your stomach is still healing and needs a chance to scar. You could very well get food particles stuck in your staple line. I hope this helps!! You have received some great info and help above too. Keep reading and posting on here. The advice and experience is truly invaluable.
  20. Hey Jaffa, how have you been doing? I see by your ticker you are now in the "normal" BMI Range... CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I personally LOVE being sleeved over having my band. It's the absolute best thing I have ever done for myself!!!
  21. Description: http://store.discovery.com/detail.php?p=84842&v=discovery&pa=discoveryxml There are 4 different episodes on the subject. The one however I'm talking about is regarding the Human Brain. It was very fascinating as it mentioned weight loss. It talked out how the brain responds when you go low calorie and it gives good credence to the "starvation mode" so many talk about. It was very interesting. I really was never one to fully understand nor accept this concept until I watched this TV program. If you get the chance, look it up and see if you can catch it....
  22. Whew!! I was starting to worry just a little bit... LOL That's just me though, I worry about everything!! Anyway, regarding the milk - yes! I'm scared to even try ice cream. I haven't had any since surgery and ever since I had the worst night of my life when I had some milk over a month ago now - I won't go near the stuff. I did buy some Lactaid milk and it was terrible. Way too thick (even being 1%) and tried to even add a little Water. It was still awful. I wonder if I added some splenda that might help. It's worth a try though because it's about 5 buck a half gallon! I have to at least try... It made my stomach bubble up a little bit but no other negative side effects other than that. I really want it to work though because it's so nutritious and fair amount of Protein. It's really good since I need more calories due to my workouts. I'm hoping my body is not fighting me with the low calories. If I don't lose a fair amount this week, I'm going to have to find a way to bump up the calorie intake. ...and yes, ladies - the gas is something else!! lmao!!
  23. No problem. When I get home from work tonight I'll post a list of what I have.
