Hi there! We were banded around the same time together, mine was July 5th. This is obviously a VERY commen problem. And I agree with Alex that this is something we shouldve all known about pre-surgery. I was banded around 2pm and by 7pm I was asking the nurse what I could eat.... imagine what she was thinking! :cool: I was starving! Anyhow, I lost 12 lbs (from starvation) the first week and nothing since. And now that Im week three and eating everything, Im worried about gaining that 12 lbs...... so, Ive resorted to the old diet pills till my first fill. (gosh, I hope its not taboo to tell others this) I did my first diet pill today and its MUCH better. From what Ive heard, alot of times the doc prescribes them pre-fill. Good luck and keep me posted on any other ideas you find that works!

This is a question that I asked... what happens if I develope a stomach virus or food poisoning and begin vomiting my toe nails up. Sounds grose, but its a reality.

Thanks Michelle! I did the diet pill thing today and it made a TON of difference (Thank God). I dont want to undo what Ive already done! After my fist fill, will I still be able to gulp down lots of water at one time? Ive read other post that say you should sip. But is this for a small amount of time after the fill or will it be forever?

I know this is a crazy one, but I have a week till my first fill. Ive lost 12 lbs in my first -liquid only- week and nothing else since. Im getting hungry... and eating quite a bit! And of coarse, scared Im gonna gain. Just wondering.... anyone know if there are any Vitamins or herbs that can increase the metobolism? Ive read that (excuse the spelling) chrominum piconate and chitosan helped.... anyone know for sure? Ive even thought about taking the old diet pills out of the cabnet and giving them a try .

Hi Dallas, I was wondering the same thing. My sister has Crohn's disease and is about 150 lbs overweight and is very interested in getting the lap-band. I recommended that she (and you) talk to her gastro. doctor first. Alot of times they get an "inside" scoop on things before we do:) and may actually recommend you for this surgery. Keep us posted. Im in Lake Charles, Louisiana... about 30 minutes east of the Texas border! I know another lady here in town that had surgery with Spiegel in mid May, she has lost 30 lbs in 2 months, and is already looking towards her 3rd fill. I now wish I wouldve gone to Houston (Spivak) because of all the negative things I hear (and have experienced) with Spiegels office. Like I said in my profile, its all about the $$$$$$$. And Id like to think that when I pay THIS much money for something, I get a little more knowledged and edcuated help from his staff. I have resorted to using this place or calling another doctors office for answers. :phanvan At the top of this page, under the title "main lap-band forums" there is a topic on Doctors and Hospitals (Im assuming you havent viewed this yet) . If you go back a month in messages under this topic you will find one for Dr. Spiegels patients. Happy reading;) And let me add that everyone seems satisified with Spiegel himself, including me, but its the office that makes me cringe! God Bless you on your journey

Hi Sissyfaye, Im new to this place, so I hope Im doing this reply correctly. I had my band on July 5th and I go for my first fill on Aug 2. I, too am with Dr. Spiegel. I dont have very many positive things to say about his office, so Im going to leave that one alone! Anyhow, as I approach my first fill, I keep thinking about the pain you were in a week ago with your first fill.... what ever happened??? Did you ever find anything out from Spiegels office? And to answer your initial question, I heard he allows a fill every 4 weeks.
