You sound motivated and realistic about the challenges..family and social events take planning and committment to your purpose. YOu can do this..you will be happy to know, that for me..adding bbq to my food in small quantities has helped the food go down better! deb
  2. congrats! my surgeon & dietitian allowed me a couple times a day to use atkins meal replacement bar..i chose the chocolate peanut butter ones 250 calories, 17 gms of fat, but of what a difference they made! i lost 15 lb presurgery so they did not hurt me to take..i just had to take at least 2 of my shakes a day. deb
  3. Dee you are an inspiration to me..i just had my lap band on 9/3/13...we have (had) about the same height and age and about the same amount we wanted to lose. I am sorry about your husband and happy about your success. thanks for posting deb
  4. i understand how you feel.i chose to tell almost everyone so they could become my accountability partners..but some have chosen to bash me on "if you only had the willpower " line..but that is okay i know they love and care about me..and I have chosen the lapband route because i believe it will work for me..i am 4 days out, hate the shakes but love the preliminary results...but my surgeon said the words that helped me most. He said a lot of people will consider you took the easy route ..but there is nothing easy about this...you have to work to log what you eat, you have to still exercise, you have to do lots of things people who are not banded don't have to do. However, YOU made the decision to change your life and YOU are going to have a better life because your health and your life will be better. CONGRATS on having the courage to change your life..not everyone can! warmly deb
