    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I did it! I'm a bandit! I was done on Saturday the 14th at about two in the afternoon. It's been four days and it's been an intense experience. Physically, I'm found well. My doctor is very conservative so I was in the hospital until Sunday afternoons I was in the ICU step-down unit with all his other patients so I had sequential Compression devices that would squeeze my legs, a blood pressure cuff that went off every hour,an IV, cardiac leads all over my chest and the wonderful nurses that got me up every three hours to walk. It was not the restful night I had hoped! And if I can say what everyone else has- walk! Walk! Walk! I went to the doctor yesterday and I have been advanced to full liquids (yogurt, pudding, farina, etc) I have the port right next to my belly button and that's the spot that hurts. The doc thinks I had some reaction to something because the area is swollen and red. Doesn't think it's an infection but were keeping an eye on it. One of the nurses in the hospital told me that for the first week or so I should sip everything as of it were hot tea, slowly. That advice has worked very well I've never felt nauseated or anything. The gas pain even four days out is Horrible! It's constant and it hurts when I take a deep breath, when I get up, walking around. It kills. It doesn't help that I'm home alone with my two and a half year old and one year old today so I still have to lift them occasionally even though I shouldn't. I'm passing gas but I still feel this huge bubble right in my chest. It's making me tired and a little discouraged. The diet is going well though and I was nervous I'd be hungry all the time. I guess because of the surgery soreness and the gas my abdomen is pretty full. I'm passing gas as even went to the bathroom once (hey friends were all about sharing right?) but it's still exhausting. I'm feeling positive overall about the weight loss, but my body is pooped! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  2. I'm being banded Sept 13th. Has anyone started the preop diet? I'm not sure about choosing between pre made shakes and mixing my own, which brand to drink. My nutritionist gave me a list of brands but I have a friend who uses Carnation Instant Breskfast sugar free. A lot of decisions and I'm excited and nervous at the same time!

Has anyone started the pre op diet yet?

So I'm sitting in the preop waiting area. The nurse started my IV and gave me a shot of Heparin in my stomach. I'm just waiting until they take me in. It feels surreal to finally be here waiting. So psyched! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I actually started yesterday and it's difficult. Three shakes, one Protein and veggie meal, two pieces a fruit a day. One day at a time! My husband is not being supportive at all, he keeps telling menu should be losing weight in my own. How about you? When do you start preop? Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I got my insurance approval for my Sept 13th ( yea I know it's Friday the 13th) surgery! I started my preop yesterday and I have the worst headache/ and I'm not a violent person but I would kill someone for a Chips Ahoy. I'm worried about slipping up and I'm feeling some feelings if ...mourning. Like I'm parting with an old friend by saying goodbye to some foods that always were there for me. I'm just letting myself be sad and then it will pass , especially once I start losing! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Congratulations ! I know the preop diet is brutal but you can do it! Just keep in mind all the things you already know- the diet is to keep you safer during surgery, nothing tastes as good as losing weight will feel, you're worth it. You know, whatever has sabotaged you in the past is the PAST and you can do this! I start my preop on the 23rd (three days and counting). I've been doing my "farewell tour" for all the foods I love most. The more I read here the more nervous I get. So many people with stores some good done bad. Where do you live? Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Thanks so much! I can't wait! It's been difficult lately because my husband is being very unsupportive, and I haven't wanted to tell too many people. But I know I'm doing what I need to do to get healthy and be here for my three kids. When do you start your preop? Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I know what you mean! I have three kids under 5 and there's so much I want to do with them- ride bikes, play tennis, and a Mommy and Me gymnastics class with my two year old that I've avoided because I didn't want to be the big out of shape Mommy out of breath and sweaty . I'm not supposed to start the preop diet until the 23rd but I think I'm going to start on Monday. I want to get myself on that kind of structured eating and I also, after all this waiting, just want to get to it! My husband has not been super supportive so I hope that doesn't make it harder. I'm so glad for this forum!
