  1. Thanks so much for replying. I have Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield. I am hoping that the Dr knew exactly what I needed to get it approved. They haven't asked me to lose anything yet. They asked that I not drop below the 40 BMI. I know this is going to be a tough road but I really can't wait.
  2. I got a call this morning from my doctors office finally that all of my pretesting is done and they do not require any other tests. They will get back to me on Friday with a surgery date. In the meantime they will get the approval. I am 41 BMI with no other health issues. Did many of you have a problem with insurance? If so, why? I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. They were hoping to get me in by then end of September. I feel like I am waiting for my life to start. I am so excited that I can't think of anything else.
  3. Hi all, I think I have decided to go with the gastric sleeve instead of the lap band. I was all set and dealing with Dr. Geiss at Syosset Hospital and then from reading all of the forums I started to rethink it. I have now met with another doctor in the practice, Dr. Gohil. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with him. Thank you so much for any assistance.
  4. Thank you for all of your comments. This is such a huge decision I really want to make sure I make the right one.
  5. Hi all, I am obviously new here. I have been lurking for a few weeks though. I am just about finished all of my tests and DR visits that I need to begin the insurance request for the Lap Band. I went to the seminar last night and it scared the hell out of me. When I came home I got on the internet and now I am more confused than ever. I am just over 40BMI without any other health issues and was all set on the band but the little bites and cutting your meal into tiny pieces, no bread or buns forever kind of freaked me out. Then reading on I see that so many on other sites are so against bands now. They all say they erode and slip and so on. I am suppose to get the band plication and I picked it because of the least amount of risks. Do any of you regret your decisions. Can you ever not worry about getting stuck? I am more than willing to put in the work, I really just want a way back to life.
