  1. Please don't get discouraged. We are here for you. I am still pre-op but have been strugling with diets for many years. Last night I had the munchies and instead of raiding my daughters school snacks like I usually do, I had half a protein shake (atkins dark milk chocolate) and I was fine. Also, I get motivated when I go to the health food store and find all kinds of neat stuff that is good for you. Today I was at Lassens and found a zero calorie sweetner called "monk fruit in the raw"....who knew. Anyway, I totally believe you can do it! Dry you eys and have a protein shake girllllll.
  2. I am excited to get this ball rolling. My goal is to get all of my pre-op stuff done in a week. I called my insurance company just to make sure the surgery is covered. They said yes, but my medical group does the approvals really. So I called them and they said as long as I meet the critiria and the dr. thinks this will help me. I hope to be scheduled before the end of August. Stay tuned......
  3. WOW! You look great. We have similar starting weight. I can't wait to look and feel good too! Thanks for the inspiration.
  4. I am pre-op but i came across a book on Amazon called "The bariatric foodie guide to perfect protein shakes" by nikki massie..i look forward to trying the sugar free pina colada protein shake!
  5. Hi Staci...wow on the weight loss. I hope to be on that same path soon.
  6. Hello everyone, I am new to this foram and I usually just scan and read everyone else's post but today I decided to create an account and post a topic. I am a very private person, but I think interacting with others on this issue will help me to be successful. I have been overweight for about 10 years now and I am 39 years old. I am hoping that the lap band will be the tool I need to lose the weight and get rid of this annoying diabetes. I at the Pre-op phase and have not yet had my first appt. but I have been through this before so I know the drill. 2 years ago I was scheduled to have the Gastric Bypass and 2 days befor the surgery I cancelled it and told myself that I can just lose the weight on Weight Watchers. No offense, I still love Weight Watchers. Anyway, the diabetes got worse and now I am 2 types of medication and I am always tired. After researching bariatric surgery, I feel that the Lap Band would be better for me than Gastric Bypass. I don't mind losing weight slowly just as long as I am losing it. I look forward to hearing your story and sharing mine!
