  1. Melissa- WAY TO GO!! Getting "back into" it is the hardest part. I am going through the same thing after taking a few weeks off with all the holidays. I wish it would stay warm out because I would love to get back to doing something outside once a week.
  2. Hi guys... I lurk a lot but dont say too much. I am doing good. Losing motivation to work out like I was. I am happy to say I actually lost weight over the holidays My weight loss is slow and steady so no complaints here at all. 70 lbs in 7 months is HUGE for me. I am just amazed at how different I feel. With it being cold out sometimes I even run to my car so I dont freeze... before I would have been afraid of falling and hurting myself if I did that. You are all doing fabulous and Manatee you look great!
  3. I didnt drink it very often before surgery and also dont now. I was given the OK by my surgeon to drink it if I wanted to though.
  4. My father has celiac disease and I really dont see how having a band would effect it? If anything it would help because you may have a hard time sneaking some bread that you shouldnt have anyway.
  5. My scale has slowed down too. I would do almost anything to be able to fit into a 14 more comfortably though. It is kind of discouraging. I know I could be doing better with my food intake, its so so hard this time of year!
  6. I cant wait to see yours! I had mine cut short, and then went back in and had it done shorter. After having long hair for years I was afraid I wouldnt like it short but I love it!
  7. I am not a big Dr. Phil fan or anything but I did tivo a show he had about plastic surgery this week. On his website is a list of questions to ask a potential plastic surgeon. Good luck! I am so excited for you! Dr. Phil.com - Advice - Choosing a Plastic Surgeon
  8. Mine was right at 30 days. No regrets at all.
  9. I told all of my kids who range from 5 yrs to 12 yrs. They have been able to understand why sometimes mommy's tummy hurts and things. For me it was easier to tell them than for them to worry about me.
  10. You are doing awesome and sooo close to goal! Have you tried changing up your exercise routine? The body can get used to doing the same excercises.
  11. I had a NSV I didnt even know I would look forward to... the water in the bath tub goes over my tummy for the first time in years!
  12. Thanks for all the congratts guys, it is just unbelievable! I was out of town for 3 days... i did drink a few coffees that were loaded in sugar because it was hard to get sugar free stuff but i did lose two more lbs while I was gone. 11 more til I weigh the same as my hubby. Now that is what I call motivation! I had no problems with airport security either. I brought a lunchable on the plane as a snack so the candy and goodies didnt look so tempting. My daughters surgery went just fine this morning, and other than being a little tired she is already feeling better. I appreciate all the support. Sandra- That does sound weird with the coldness... do they use flouro?? Hopefully with a few more small fills you will get some restriction. I have a 4 cc band too and for the first 2 I felt no different.
  13. I made it to 199 today! I have not weighed this much in MANY YEARS! I am beyond excited... I even made my hubby come look at the scale for himself today. My band is amazing! I am starting to be able to see the lump that is my port under the skin now. It is kind of gross looking but not near as gross as my pre-surgery fat. Daughter Update- Last week her ENT refused to do surgery again saying he wanted to wait until late December to put new tubes in. We compromised by setting a surgery date and an appointment just prior to it so we could cancel surgery if she improved. This weekend she got her 103 fever back and moped around all weekend. I have been taking her to school every morning medicated so she can at least make it til 10:00. Yesterday the nurse told me not to bother bringing her because they are afraid she will catch something else. I called the ENT's nurse who was glad to give me antibiotics but said he did not want to move her surgery up. I had a nervous breakdown over the phone and told her she was not to speak for the Dr unless she had actually asked him to move it up. She called me back with her tail between her legs and they moved the surgery up to Monday. Thank God! I have a long week ahead of me, I think I am going to go defrost any ice cream in the house because I just dont think I can take knowing its there!
  14. Manatee-- Have you flown again since June when your port set off the metal detector? I have been to the airport a few times since getting my band but that was 40 lbs ago, I am flying Friday and was wondering if yuo had the same results if you traveled again?
  15. This was the least I have ever eaten at a holiday too. How awesome! My scale did not go up this morning. WOO HOO!!!
  16. Laura, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with all of these issues. Many people have these feelings around the holidays and with the anniversary date of your Mother being so close to them I can imagine it is all that much harder for you. The things I have found to help with head and emotional hunger are to evaluate why I am wanting to eat something. If its because I just want to put something in my mouth because I am bored I will chew gum or drink a bunch of Water. If I am upset about something I ask myself if eating whatever it is will really make me feel better? I must sound crazy for talking to myself about WHY I am eating stuff but it seems to help me. I know when I dont do this and go ahead and eat whatever I feel even worse and hear the old me saying tomorrow I will start fresh. There arent enough tomorrows for me to slip back into that again. That being said we all fall off the wagon and have to pull ourselves up and carry on. If you find you just have to eat for whatever reason and you know you arent really hungry pick something good for you... lunch meats are a good snack, the Curves granola bars, anything that after you eat it you will be okay for a while. I also work out a lot which makes that ice cream that used to look so good seem like a huge waste of my time. How can I eat a bunch of that when I get home from the gym? Its pointless! Get your fill so this will be that much easier. You can do this!
  17. I am sorry she hurt your feelings with this. I am sure she is worried that you will put yourself through getting a surgery and not get the results you want. She loves you and wants you to succeed! People will say dumb things along the way but your determination and results will show them all. Congratts on your surgery date!
  18. Thanks Liz, I do feel totally different!
  19. Comment frequently on how amazing she looks without comparing to how she looked before. A simple you look fabulous or I can tell a huge difference will go much farther than comments like you are starting to look normal or you have lost the rolls. :scared:
  20. I know I posted this on the before/after thread too but I like to share with you guys directly.
  21. I have BCBS FEP Basic and had no problem getting written authorization and they paid all but $100 of my surgery costs. Paperwork submitted on a Thursday and approved by Monday. BCBS is fabulous!
  22. Anyone ever done the 3 day walk? A co-worker talked me into signing up for it for next year so I can start raising my money. I am kind of nervous, thats a LOT of walking.
  23. I have experienced the same thing. My doctor told me to feel free to do any excercises I want and if it hurts to stop for a day or two. I have been banded since May 23, 2007 and can now do almost any ab work outs for an hour at a time with no pain in the port. Pain everywhere else just not my port Its still tender a few months out but it does get better. Now I have lost so much weight laying on a work out bench the wrong way shoves my port into my ribs which is irritating but not painful.
