  1. I felt the same way as all of you, I am now 10 days post op and feel fabulous. The small amount of pain I had in my port area is gone. I got up today and felt so good I mowed the yard for my husband. Good luck to all of you! Once it is done you will wonder what you were so worried about to begin with. Oh and my scars are sooooooooooooooooo tiny!!
  2. You are doing this for YOU. If your son and daughter in law never approve of your wishes that is too bad, this is your life! I believe once you have it done and start losing the weight they will love the way you feel about yourself mentally and physically. Good luck to you, and prayers for your medical conditions. I was banded on May 23rd and feel wonderful.
  3. Anyone with BCBS Federal had experience with getting fills paid for? Someone on another forum told me they would not pay for one within 60 days of surgery?? I cant seem to find anything on it in my plan book.
  4. Congratts! The day will be here before you know it! It really sneaks up on you.
  5. I feel sooooo much better today! I havent been very hungry but have been making myself eat a little bit. It is amazing how much more energy I have and how much better I am feeling. Hang in there everyone recently banded... it really does get better every day.
  6. Thanks for all the responses. I was really starting to think I was all alone and that this was never going to stop. Now I feel tons better!
  7. Okay I am going to try to ask this again because I have also posted it on two different threads and no one will reply  How long was it when the swelling and pain in your port area went away? I am a week post op it feels fine in the morning and as the day goes on it gets worse. I am tired of hurting, I just want it to get back to normal. I am sorry I am having a pitty party for myself today and no one cares.
  8. My bestfriend and I discussed this before I had my surgery and she has the train of thought that me having this surgery may help her! Both with motivation to eat better abd work out more. I must say that this could also work the other way because my friend and I were hanging out this weekend and went driving like we do a lot and all she could talk about was all the food signs and what she wants to eat and on and on. After listening to this for an hour I was starting to get irritated that she was so focused on food. I am not saying I am going to quit being her friend or anything crazy but it makes me realize how much of our friendship we focused on what to eat next!
  9. As far as the carbonation some people say the air will expand your pouch and yes beer is very carbonated. I have no answer for the coffee thing. All of our doctors tell us different things so just follow what yours has told you! You can also ask at your doctors office at your next appointment. My doctor says they have been doing lap bands in Australia for a lot longer than in the US and they do not advise their patients to no drink carbonation or drink a certain amount of protein drinks and have weight loss & complication rates comparable to those in the US. Supposedly there is a study to support this but I have not seen it yet. My doctor has told me I can have regular coffee and encouraged a daily glass of wine. Just follow your doctor's instructions!
  10. I have postd this question in a few other places but am not getting any responses so I broke down and came to the main board! I also tried to search old posts for it because I realize there must be some but it brings up hundreds of other posts. I am one week post-op and just returned to work yesterday. When i wake up in the morning I feel pretty good there is not much port pain at all, as the day goes on my port site gets pretty swollen and sore. It is not red or hot to the touch. It is just achey, swollen, and sore. I only made it to lunch time at work yesterday and then I was just too sore and tired to stay any longer. I called my Dr's office and they didnt seem to concerned with it, I am just wondering when this swelling and pain went away for the rest of you?
  11. I have never been told not to chew gum?? I wish there was an all out manual on the lap band because everyday I come across something else I had never heard of.
  12. Call your doctors office and tell them you want to verify they received the approval letter also. Then ask them how soon you can schedule your surgery date and pre-op visit. Tell them you need to start making arrangements at work. Good luck!
  13. I am only 6 days post op and was wondering when your swelling and pain at your port site stopped? Mine is still pretty sore when I am moving. It is also swollen still but is not red or hot to touch. I see my Dr next week but they didnt seem to concerned with it. I was just wondering when I can look forward to the swelling and pain stopping?
  14. For those of you banded earlier in the month how long was your port site swollen for?
  15. I am 5 days post-op and my port site kills me if I am getting up or down or take too long of a walk. All I can say is hang in there you are not alone!
  16. Post-Op Pain Survey Questions 1. Was your procedure outpatient or did you stay overnight? Outpatient, was in surgery @ 5:30 left hospital by 7:30 2. Did you have complications related to surgery? No 3. What you were given for at home pain? How many days did you take it? Liquid hydrocodone. Took first two days and then on occasion after that. 4. Pain after surgery for how many days? Pain at port when getting up and down mostly. Worst the first 2 days. 5. Degree of pain...10 being your arm was cut off and 1 being a paper cut? 2-When laying still 6-Trying to get out of bed. 6. Doctor and state where surgery was done? Dr. Marsden, TX
  17. Rosanna, Sounds like you are at least giving it a shot! Does your insurance have any kind of peer to peer review they will do or anything? I think its usually a conference call with your surgeon? I am doing well, 5 days post op and completely out of energy. I havent had any real food in about a week and am ready to start eating some mushy stuff. I cannot complain though, everything is exactly how it should be. I just know if you keep at your insurance company you can get an approval. They are a beast to deal with but with determination and no exclusion on your policy I cant see how it cant be done! Hang in there!
  18. Hi all! I am not having pains other than my port site. Today is 5 days post -op for me. I am starting to get a little hungry but it doesnt take much protien drink, or soup to get rid of it. I did cheat and have a few bites of yogurt the other day because I was just so freaking hungry for something to put in my mouth with texture. Nothing exciting to report here. I tried to walk around a flea market for a little bit yesterday and was absolutely ready to fall over from being so tired. Came home and took a 3 hour nap. I just wish I had more energy. I am tired of being tired.
  19. I cant understand why you would lie when getting medical care? If you were ok with your decision to go to Mexico to get banded and youve already had it done then whats the big deal now? If you really want help with your pain give them ALL of your medical history to work with?
  20. Mal- That is horrible! I will say a prayer for you that it resolves itself. Hang in there!
  21. Incisions- I am feeling like a complete retard right now. My doctor put these clear bandaids with gauze in the middle over each of my incisions. They told me to remove them and leave the steri strips on but when I try to remove them the steristrips start to peel off stuck to the clear bandaid. I wish they could get some air so they would heal faster but I cant get this crap off of them This sucks! Is there some trick I dont know about? I am going to call my dr back on Monday. I hate feeling this dumb! kacee- I cant believe you are wanting to eat that stuff already! Good for you! I am lucky just to choke down these protien drinks. I am not hungry at ALL! I am kind of looking fwd to wanting some food because I think I will feel less tired when I do.
  22. Hang in there, I was banded on the 23rd and each day gets better. The pain in my side lessons considerably each day. I have also learned new techniques for getting out of bed. I have found if I hold the small pillow they gave me at the hospital to my port while I get up it is easier.
  23. I am just going to listen to my body and drink what i can tolerate. i will know when it is time to kick it up a notch. Heck what i have drank today is already a huge improvement over yesterday. we will get where we need to be girlies! i am just so thankful that i am not hungry right now. that would scare me!! its strange to be afraid of food when for so long i was one of its biggest fans! my head has been telling me i must be hungry because i havent eaten since tuesday but my body is quite clear it is not hungry! (other than the strange growls my tummy makes)
  24. Wenjea- I think I will do better at that later on, I am so swollen right now though I am trying not to push it. I did get down a protien drink with 17 gr of protien today so i am on my way. just waiting on this gas to get some place!!
  25. I just had mine done at Wise Regional Wednesday. It is a really nice hospital with they best nurses anywhere! A really new facility too! Good luck! What Dr r u using?
