  1. Oh and hitting the rib, was me making a joke! I'm just saying she pushed so hard and so deep that hitting rib could be possible haha! Anyways, thanks for the help peeps! I'm calling my surgeon Monday just to see what he thinks!
  2. Also, not everyone's ports are in the same place, my moms is up high closer to where the stomach is located, mine is way down low, closer to my belly button.
  3. Yeah no, they don't use a butterfly needle there's no way they could hit the port with a butterfly needle, that's crazy! If they use one on you, then your port has to be right under the skin, I can't feel my port unless I put some pressure and push around. They use a regular size needle as if you were getting a shot, they did say they use a longer needle for me to reach my port.
  4. Thanks y'all. I have asked for fluro, they keep putting it off saying next time, but I think I'll demand it this time!
  5. I get my fills through true results, not my surgeon. So I haven't let him know yet about the fill and how it went.
  6. Earlier this week I had a really bad experience with a Fill. Long story short, they couldn't find the port.. Keep poking and prodding around causing extreme pain. Since then every time I eat, I feel pains around the site of my port, which seems odd to me. Should I be concerned and should I have it checked out?
  7. Thanks everyone! I don't get my fills from my surgeon, I get them done through true results. However I will be contacting my surgeon about my fill today and ask him why no Fluor has been done. I do have my 5 month post op with my surgeon in a few weeks so ill discuss some of my concerns with him then too.
  8. I had my 5th fill today. There was a new person doing my fill, let me just say... I left in tears and in so much pain. She couldn't find my port, kept pushing and digging around. I felt these electrifying pains shoot from my port, down my side and to my hip! It's was horrifying! I kept telling her it hurt, she finally got someone else who finally found my port. I've never had this happen before. During my last fill I was told that during this fill I'd have the fluoroscopy done to check everything out, but ONCE again they said maybe next time. I have NOT had a X-ray since the day of surgery. Should I demand a X-ray next time? I'm concerned...
  9. Just had my 4th fill, up to 8cc in a 14cc band, hoping for some restriction this time! I lost 9 lbs in two weeks, down almost 30 lbs since surgery 2 1/2 months ago! Yay!!!
  10. Lori I agree, I paid out of pocket for my surgery. I do understand its a life style change and you do need to watch your food intake, but I also think the band is supposed to help with this change. The restriction is there to help you with your portion control, that's what it's designed to do. IMO
  11. Yes, I do portion control. If I eat only half a cup like they say, I'm hungry in about an hour or so. I was advised to eat about a cup to help keep control of my hunger. You have to remember that everyone is different, just because you can eat 10 bites and food and be ok, doesn't mean another person will be ok with that amount of food. I am on a low calorie/fat diet and even eat less calories then I'm supposed to eat. I exercise daily and have lost over 25 lbs in 2 months. I just want to feel the band working, just like everyone else.
  12. Thank y'all for your kind words. I'm looking forward to my next fill on Wednesday. I typically get 2cc on each fill so hoping that's what they'll do. I hope you all find restriction soon.
  13. I don't have a clue how she determines what amount of saline she puts in. I fill out a form at every fill about how much I'm eating etc. I am not currently paying for fills as it was in my total cost of surgery for the 1st year. I go for another fill next week on the 8th. So I'll see what happens then.
  14. Hello, my name is Mandy and I was banded 2/28/13. I'd like to be apart of your support group. I live in Bedford and was banded by Dr. Snow. I've been looking for a support group in my area. Email: mandee_sha@yahoo.com
  15. Thanks! I'm making good food choices and I've lost 25lbs since march 1st. So I'm happy about that. I just waiting till the time where I do eat and it keeps me full longer then a few hrs. I did get the band with plication so my stomach is smaller which I think is helping me with losing weight.
  16. I had my 3rd fill on Wednesday. I'm currently at 6.5cc in a 14cc band. I don't feel any difference then my last fill. I can eat anything, but I keep myself away from breads and high calorie foods. I'm feeling very frustrated, I hate the fact that I can still eat whatever I want. I'm hungry just a hour or two after eating and I HATE to eat again in a short amount of time. I just want to be at my "sweet spot" I know it takes time. Just curious as to those with a 14cc band, at what cc did you start to fill restriction??

  18. That's great! I had my 3rd fill this previous Wednesday. I have 6.5 cc in a 14cc band. I feel absolutely no restriction at all. Looking forward to my next fill on May 8th, hoping that one will do the trick.
