  1. Wow. Thanks for all the suggestions! You all are a wealth of information. I am going to do some taste testing.
  2. I will be starting my 4-per-day Protein shakes and Clear liquids in about 2 weeks. I have been researching some of the different shakes available, including ready to drink and powders. My doctor says I can have any shake that is 200 calories or less. Also, since I have to live on them for 4 weeks, I want them to taste good and help me feel satisfied. I have been looking at grams of protein, grams of Fiber, calories, and cost. There seems to be a wide variety in all of these factors. I know I need protein, but the ones I have seen range from 10-30 grams per serving. Does more protein make you feel less hungry? Also, how important is the amount of fiber? It is nice to have choices, but there are almost too many out there. I would like to stock up on them, and buy in bulk to lower the cost. I would appreciate any info or advice.
  3. I am also a patient of Dr. Mobley. Glad to find this thread. I will be having my surgery at Baptist Health, Corbin. Dr. Mobley is terrific!
  4. From the posts I have read, I found this site very early in my lap band journey. I have just begun my pre-op testing and diet. I have no surgery date yet, but I am aiming for August 2013. I was referred to this site by the nurse who prepped me for my EGD procedure at Baptist Health Corbin, KY. She was in her final 2 weeks pre-surgery, and she said the site was helping her tremendously. I was mainly looking for recipes, but I found so much more. This is a terrific place! I have been heavy since I was a teen. I was in marching band, but not very active otherwise. I was, and still am, a bookworm. My other hobbies, scrapbooking and genealogy, are also sedentary activies. After my first child was born, I lost all of my baby weight. However, after my second child 3 years later, I just slowly gained more weight. Add to that the stress of a divorce, relocation, being a single mom, and taking care of my mother, and I now have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes, and a weight topping out at 340. I work full time at a desk job, and I am exhausted all the time. My knees and hips hurt after 15 minutes of walking, so I am not enthusiastic about exercising. Needless to say, it is time to do something different. I want to live the rest of my life, not just exist and be a burden on my family. I realize this old dog must learn some new tricks, but I am ready to do whatever it takes to make this work. I want to look at a picture of me and not grimace. I look forward to going on hikes and camping, which my family now has to do without me. I also look forward to starting a new life with my awesome fiance', and being able to take care of him and our home.
