  1. Hey Marcar, yeah, preop is a bitch...Worst 2 weeks ever. I cracked, not first day mind you but yeah, I had pickles and a sliver of pizza (separate days) (after spending the whole day in front of GOOD food at my aunts and holding back) all in all, it wasnt a big amount of each, and for another clinic pickles are allowed, although not for mine, but anyways, thats not THAT bad, but yeah surgery went well, i lost weight preop so i guess its a success. All i can say is hang in there, and trust me we all know how extremely hard preop is. Dont worry, but also don't cave...i understand the urge, i was there, but you have to fight it. Get back on that horse.
  2. Has anyone else called TLBC and only get their voicemail, I HATE VOICEMAIL, I sent an email to maral, and the only response i get is that i sent it to the wrong person, she tells me to email someone else...i didnt pay 16000 to get the run around. I'm venting right now, but seriously...I even talked to the receptionist, told her, im calling and only getting voicemail, asked her if anyone is there, she says yeah, i say, transfer me to someone who is THERE, she does, guess what i get....voicemail. Like, do they concentrate only on the people in clinic and if the phone is ringing, sorry too bad for you, well...i cant travel 4 hours for every question. Really, i'm sure they're great but this is not starting off on the right foot.
  3. I bent down fast today, and i felt a weird feeling, a bit like if my stitch was tearing, but it didnt, and now there is a bit of pus coming out of my scar area. What should i do?? Tlbc is just voicemail....do i leave a message, or would they only get it on monday, do i send email, do i go to ER(seems drastic). It is on my right side, and its one of the smaller scars, and it definitely didnt rip. My scars are pretty healed, i think its past the point where they would rip anyways.
  4. Yeah, i agree.....i will be taking it easy on the fluids from now on. I thank you all for the encouragement and advice.
  5. Well...i've been obese class3...probably the last 2 years...before, still very big..so i've tried a lot of things to change that...nothing worked. obviously if you get to this point its because you are done with all the other crap. This year is the first year that my Blood pressure is considered high...I don't EVER want to have to take meds for diabetes (which i probably wouldve had by 25), Hypertension (few years).....I was heading down a bad path, this was what i saw...i was actually just one day thinking...i should get a surgery, looked up RNY...found this, and decided RNY was not what i wanted. Lap band seemed like a good solution, so yeah, my parents have been more or less suportive, my mom understands, my dad is the person who thinks i can still turn it around myself...but anyways, yeah...thats it.
  6. Hey, I chose the place because after seeing this forum, i realised what was important in a banding centre. At first i had a consult (in person) at the toronto cosmetic clinic. Then came on here, figured i might as well get another consult on the same day so i wasnt wasting my time travelling to toronto. Looked like TLBC was a good one, so i chose it...i still didnt really have too much info. So anyways, i fill out the forms for the TLBC consult (which they could do over the phone, which was great!) And they needed forms filled out, info and such, whereas toronto cosmetic clinic didnt require anything, and wouldnt do a consult over the phone. I slowly realised that tcc wasnt the best choice because they didnt seem to be as organised and specialised like TLBC. It wouldve been nice to go to the consult in person i think, but its ok. So yeah, i dont know much about SWLC (Dr. C/Dr. Mumford) I didnt do a consult...plus theyre farther away for me...so..whatever, but i'm sure theyre great and people who have gone liked them i think. But anyways, one week out, i feel really good, I was out walking yesterday...took me a few days before i wanted to walk but its better now. I'm glad i did it so far, because i now feel like there is an end to the weight issue that has been plaguing me now for the last 10 years (half my life). I'm sure i'll be more happy i did it once i start eating regular food again. I TOTALLY know what you mean about not being able to eat lots, i think its normal, i think thats our addiction to food...i know i was addicted to food, i'm happy to read many posts that once you start feeling satisfied with food, and not always have to feel full your perspective changes...but i'm not there yet. Yeah, i'm doing good...i lost a lot in the pre-op diet...now THAT is a hurdle. *also to compare the 2 best places in toronto, at the TLBC the pre-op diet is cottage cheese(i hate it) and yogurt, whereas the SWLC is opti-fast (I THINK, not 100% sure) which is pretty expensive, like i think it will run you 400$ for the pre-op diet. Whereas my yogurt for the 10 days probly cost me under 100$. But yeah...Read lots of posts, if there was a counter that said how long i was on here just reading posts taking it all in....i'd have a lot stacked up. Also....dont just read the good stuff...its great to check out the before and after section, but also go in the complications sections, see what can happen. I'm still a newbie in all this, so i still have more questions than answers but hopefully it was helpfull.
  7. i have the midband and i have 5 scars
  8. Oh, and also....Look at your ticker...it's trucking along very nicely
  9. good....i actually regained like 4 of those....lol i should write that. But i dont care its normal. Now im just worried about drinking too much and too fast....Since i read that other thread.
  10. Jane, I envy you....i didnt have a surgeon in my city(ottawa)...I had to go to toronto. And same as yoda, i went to TLBC. I was banded a week ago today. It was good, i liked it...but do your research for yourself, and ask people what they thought of it. There are 3 doctors known for this in toronto, Dr. Cobourn/Dr. Mumford (Surgical Weight loss centre), Dr. Yau TLBC, and Dr. Tin(toronto cosmetic clinic). Toronto cosmetic clinic doesnt have anyone on this board....so i dunno bout them, i had a consult with them, but then never did it because the more i researched the more i didnt like them. They dont talk about pre-op diet in any of their info, no one on this board really knows them...etc. Ask people who went there what they thought. But i'd ask the people who have more experience, aka been for many fills, dealt with them in case of complications etc.
  11. Umm....im on full Fluid, and i can drink a can of soup....is this bad? I am also starting to be able to drink more....should i REALLY be super hardcore about sips or is it ok...I'm worried....i dont want to be like...on well i feel fine so it must be fine...But thats kind of what im going through. But really...i'm young, so i'm guessing my stomach healed quickly, like yesterday i was out and walked a good 2Kms no biggie...i'm feeling pretty much 100% and im 1 week out of surgery. I mean, it is only liquids, and the operation shouldnt have an effect on liquids should it? All it does is make the stomach smaller for food...but liquids are liquids...they go down easy no matter how small the hole...right? I don't know...You can't stretch your pouch on liquids can you? I have talked to another bander who is my age and he says he can get liquids down just like before...it's only the food thats not (which is what i'm hoping...its the point of the operation) And he's lost over 100lbs....so to me that means something. I'm throwing a lot of questions out there...sorry. I'm sure everything is fine....i'll stop worrying. IMO--as for the weight gain....i wouldnt be worried, i mean, you werent drinking enough calories and such in the Water and Clear Liquids stage...so i'm sure it's your body fighting you now to take back everything you lost...just like the yo-yo diets. But now that you'll start consistantly getting enough calories, just much less than pre-band. You should start losing again.
  12. Funny! i cant even believe this...i was in line at a yogen fruz today...but i wasnt sure if it was ok, so i just bailed, went home and had a popsicle. Oh well....whatever, didnt miss out on much.
  13. I was told day 1 was surgery day and water only (friday) so then i figured saturday, sunday, monday, tuesday clear fluids (4 days) and day 6 till day 16 full fluids...so today i started on cream of tomato and cream of brocoli soup....its nice...im happy...better than juice and broth. Now in a few days im sure ill be anxious to get on the pureed food

  15. When do you may 4thers start full fluids, tomorow?? Thats what i plan on doing.
  16. yeah june 18th...i dont know what time, but i think afternoon.
  17. Yeah, so....did you shower yet?? I'm waiting for after today. 3 days (saturday, sunday monday) But does friday count? Like i started day 2 diet stuff clear liquids on saturday...so i don't know. I really want to take these things off...but is it better to wait until tomorow? Also....GOD demerol is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO gross i took few of them simply because of the taste. And the feeling of nausea. I dont understand why they tell us we have to crush meds and give us a gross medication....why not find something in liquid form.
  18. Hey all you may 4th'ers I dont know if you know why some of you were pushed forward...well thats me. Stupid ol' me...i drank water the morning of surgery. I had to wait a few hours and they did it everything went well. What kind of band did you guys get?? I got the Midband.
  19. I feel ok, but my stomach hurts...i dont know if its gas, or muscle stiffness or whatever...i'm hoping to be 100% in a week (is that unreasonable?)
  20. Hey! Yeah, everything went well. I'm back in ottawa now.
  21. On a different note...today i picked up some Gas-x strips, some chewable multi-vitamins, some benefibre and some gravol...i figured just in case. But yeah, all the stuff the kids are raving about these days lol. 24 more hours............
  22. Yeah, and just pointing out...i'm a guy and i'm 19...so my metabolism is faster (not as much as my skinny roomate who takes weight gain protein..2500 calories per serving...GOD I HATE THAT) Try and tell me my metabolism is high and i'll laugh. But in all seriousness guys lose weight easier than girls, and the age factor goes the same way. And yeah, comparing weight is the easiest way to get discouraged so dont...trust me i'm not ready for before and after photos yet...i dont see a difference..i've still got a good 100 lbs to lose.
  23. Yay...one more full 24 hours of torture for me...then its a go!
  24. It is Officially May 2....only 2 full days of pre-op diet left...then a sleep and waking up and BAM going to clinic. I am going to be soon...so that means i have to deal with the hunger for 12 hours tomorow...YAY!!! In the week....first day i had yogurt 3 large containers...second day half a large container...afternoon day 2-day 6 zero food. Day 6 evening...had a stupid taste of pizza...was really pissed at myself...but i'm not worried about it. Day 7 had some pickles ( other diets have them in it, plus they dont have fat, carbs, sugar...Just salt...which it says on our official pre-op diet thing that you can eat...i'm still on the fence whether it was an ok choicee....but its done) And today...nothing. So basically...i'm not worried, im sure my liver is shrunk, but i'm not chancing it...NO MORE eating anything other than what is on the sheet. I think tomorow i'm picking up some crystal light...add some flavor to my water. And some sugar free jello. That will add something i can bite into.
