  1. I have now made it to my moms. I had surgery Tuesday morning, and found out a great way for the lap band not to hurt! Have it with a huge hernia repair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!To Say OH MY GOSH is an understatement. I have have two surgeries for brain tumors and two for ovariian cancer, so I didn't think I was a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wrong!!! Will post more in the next day or two. Jane
  2. It is 12:30 and I am going to bed, I getting up at 4:00 to go to hospital. I am nervous, can't believe it is finally here. I have my surgery at 7:15 and have to be at hospital at 5:15. I probably won't be posting for a couple of days, since I am having my hernia done with this the Dr. told me 2 to 5 days in hospital. You guys have been great with all your support. I have gotten so many good ideas from reading this board!! Thanks again!!! Jane
  3. Lots of prayers and encouraging thoughts to everyone being banded today!!! I got weighed this morning and I have now officially lost over 50 pounds!!! Started in August at 349 and today 298!!! Can't wait for tommorrow to be over!! Jane
  4. Okay, I printed out my taxes, getting frustrated because I can't find the estimated part (I am self employed), but it did manage to keep my mind occupied. I think that is the key for me today. I think tommorrow I will be very busy and won't have time to think. Plus on Tuesday my surgery is scheduled for 7:00 so no worrying through the day about it since it is first thing. Sorry for the freak out earlier! Hopefully that is my last! Jane
  5. I can't believe I am saying this but Tuesday morning I will have the surgery!!! I am kind of nervous!! Will do taxes today and some work stuff, clean house etc... Last night I couldn't sleep wrote some thank you notes, took my mind off of things for a while. I feel like I am going into this with only a 1% chance of survival. I don't know why I am so negative, it is not the first surgery I have had, and certainly not the most serious. I don't think I am worried about the lap band, or the hernia which they are doing at the same time, but just the fact of going out again. I feel like I have been given many chances to get my life right, and I have screwed them up and haven't made the most of what I have been given...Crazy huh, I feel like I can open up here because you know what is coming. I actually feel a little better getting this off my chest, maybe I will finish up my taxes and do my city tax license for work... Sorry if I am negative.... Jane
  6. Well I am sitting here at the computer kind of nervous, don't know why. I do have a lot to do in a short time, but that will be good in a way because it will keep my mind occupied. But I am still worried. Need to write thank you notes, should be doing that, really should be sleeping, need to do that!! Maybe I will write three thank you notes and then go to bed.

  8. PBing sounds not nice. YUCK!! Thanks for letting me know! I wish the hernia was just a stitch! It is bowling ball size on the outside, the Dr. really doesn't know what it will look like when she gets in. This is from some major complications I had from surgery in 2003. So I guess it is the fear of the unknown that looms for me!!! Thanks again!! Jane
  9. Now this is a stupid question, but a lot of posts I have read over the past month tak about p/b, never have figured out what it meant, thought I would find out by just reading... Getting nervous!! Instead of saying a week or three weeks or whatever when people ask, I say Tuesday!!!! SCARY!!! Had a bad dream the other night that the girls in the or were eating lunch and snorting cocaine!! How odd, just my nerves, and can sort of laugh that it was SO stupid, but still I am scared. Thanks to all your posts I am not worried about the lap band, I am worried about the hernia repair. I am sure if there was a hernia board my mind would be put at ease! I am rambling, sorry!!! Thanks in advance for the definition of p/b!!! Jane
  10. That is a great idea about the charms! But gosh if I got a charm for every 7 pounds I lost I would need more surgery to add an extra arm or two! This has got me thinking that I need to plan something special for my weight loss, can't wait to hear what everyone else is doing!!! Jane
  11. I am wondering about my sleep apnea, the Dr. said to bring my c-pap with me, it is soo big and ugly on, that I hate anyone to see me with it on. I don't care if they are in the medical proffession. I guess what my main question is, is do they make you wear it when you are in lala land, or just when you sleep at night. I live by myself, and NO ONE ever sees me with that on!!! I guess I am more worried about that than anything... Jane

  13. I am with Jennifer, I am the day after her, I am getting nervous!!!!! Fortunately for me I will be SUPER busy at work (I am a hairdresser), so that will keep my mind off the upcoming surgery. I am having this done in conjunction with a large hernia that I have, so I actually am more nervous about that then I am about the lap band. I did lose an amazing amount of weight last week, so that is good, but now am worried because my period is going to start on Saturday, and always gain from that. I think I have 4 more pounds to lose before surgery (doctor wanted me to lose 50). Tracy where are you!!!!! Thinking of you and hoping everything is fine!!!!!! Jane
  14. Tracy, I am sending you positive thoughts and prayers that you get through this day!!! You really are a great inspiration for everyone on the list! You also have lots of good info!! Hate to see people down!!!! Hang in There!!
  15. I can relate to feeling hunger, my lap band is the 17th of the month, and I have been on it for 6 days. Terrible feelings of hunger. I think I am going to eat tommorrow, and then liquid til the surgery!! I read some people talking about drinking through straws, is that because you like it or is it medically advised? Thanks Jane
  16. the magic bullet thing is available at a sale price at JCPenney.com!! Jane
  17. I went to JCPenney today and got the JCPenney version of the Magic Bullet and it is on sale at least through Saturday night (4-7) for $29.99. Just tried it and it works great. It has all the same stuff as the magic bullet, strainer, lids, extra cups, etc... I am thinking about going back and getting one for work! Jane
  18. The baby spoons and shrimp forks are really good ideas!!! I do have a question, I take vitamins everyday, and my multi and calcium are very large, what do people do? Jane
  19. I made a good protein shake this morning, I had a chocolate protein shake and yesterday I froze some coffee (black) in ice cube trays and threw them in and blended! YUM!!!
  20. I can NOT wait til its my turn... even though I will have to give up caffienated coffee for a month! (THE HORROR) WHY NO COFFEE? THEY DIDN'T TELL ME THAT!!! Gr8tful gal---Hang in there--extra special thoughts and prayers for you tonight!! Good luck to everyone having surgery tommorrow!! Jane
  21. One day of liquids down and 13 more. It is not too hard, but I agree night time is the hardest. I have to admit I cheated a bit last night and threw some frozen blueberries in my drink and blended. Never thought I would say I cheated on Blueberries!!
  22. I have noticed a number of posts about gum, I always have gum in my mouth, is there something I don't know? As far as exercising goes, 35 minutes is a lot for me. I am very overweight and at the MOST I get 25 minutes but usually it is about 15 or 20 minutes on the treadmill. Maybe the exercise can be edited for those not yet banded or those that are not able to exercise at least 35 minutes? Jane
  23. Maizemommy I am sooo impressed!!! I am so glad the worry of the procedure is over for you!! I hope you have a good nights sleep!! Jane
  24. Wow! Already home!!! Good luck and good nights sleep!!
  25. My positive thoughts and prayers are going out to all April people. Those that are having surgery Monday and beyond, those of us who are starting on the "diet pre-op), with special prayers that those that care about us and love us find a way to be supportive, helpful, and loving. I am starting my diet Monday. They gave me three choices, one being optifast, slimfast, or a 1400 calorie food diet. I think I am going to alternate between the slimfast one day and food the next. Hope it is not hard!!
