What can you expect before you have Weight Loss Surgery
Thank you for taking the time to write this post. I know I am making the right decision in order to save my life. I have Diabetes type ll-insulin dependent, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, fibromyalgia..... I am not looking for a swimsuit body, just wanting to tie my shoes without causing a muscle spasm and get healthy. It really does encourage me to hear awesome success stories like you just told. Thankl you sleeve date 05.01.13

9 day shake diet
I have just finished my 2nd of 21 days of preop diet. My sleeve date is 05.01.13. This has been a rough couple of days. From what I am reading people are saying 1-5 days are the worst, depending on the person. I can't believe I have to endure this for 3 wks, but I know I can do it. I just pray every day I'm making the right decision. I feel in my heart I am. I wish you well, please let us know how you are doing.

Let's get to know each other, shall we?
I am very excited to be honest. I was very scare when I had scheduled the Lap-Band, twice, because I knew in my heart the sleeve was the right thing for me but the band was cheeper. Now that I have bitten the bullet and going for the sleeve I don't feel scared at all. I am nervous though. I start my 3 week pre-op diet on 04.09. That's the part I'm scared of because it is pretty strict and I want to be as compliant as I can. The third week I'm on liquids only, sheeeesh! I think I can get through it knowing it's temporary though. Just gonna say lots of prayer. I went through all the paperwork and prep before so I know what your going through. I hope you get a date soon.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS!
Hi Sassy, I wish I were still in Dallas as well. I moved here in 2004 to help my father. He was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and his wife had major stroke and was in nursing home rest of her 3 years. I stayed with my father through the whole illness until he died in our home in 2008. I'm so thankful I had that time with him. During those four years I met my husband. He can't relocate due to his career. We bought a home in Splendora, TX and have set up roots. My kids and grandkids have all moved here so I'm staying put, lol. I do go there once in a while to reminisce and visit my grandmother's grave. When is your surgery date?

Let's get to know each other, shall we?
Hello Everyone, I feel anything I post about myself will be redundant, because so many of you share the same story as my own. I'm 50 years old and have been obese since my brain can remember. I did lose a 100 lbs in 2008 doing Atkins. It felt great and enjoyed life sooooo much more. Somehow, I lost control and gained every lb back. Maybe I was never really in control, hmmmm. I have Type II diabetes and have been on insulin for years. So tired of fighting this constant battle. I am scheduled for SLEEVE ON 05.01.13. I just don't have it in me to give up. I pray every day The Lord show me the way. This might be IT. Would love, and need, many supporters and willing to give support right back. Please add me as friend. Cindy

Sleeve vs lapband
I was scheduled for the Lap-Band next week. I went through all the hoops and was all set. After doing more research I realized the sleeve is a much better option and will have a much longer positive result. I have an appointment with a different physician who agrees the sleeve is a better choice.

Not losing weight
You are exactly right Lady.. Our bodies will hold on to Water or weight if we are not providing enough. That is one thing I have learned over the many years of research about nutrition. Once we can eat regularly, and it doesn't have to be alot, our bodies will start burning fat. Yeah!!! I don't care what anyone tells me from this point on, I'm doing this for me, I will give it my all, and what happens will happen. I'm doing the very best I can and that's all I can ask of myself.

I'm new, scheduled and excited.
Thank you for your support. Your loss is very encouraging. The night before I started the preop, 4 days ago, I had a formal good-bye ceremony to bad foods. This might sound a little silly but I had to make a real commitment this time.

Pre-op liquid "D" word.
I am on day 4 and feeling little better. My doc rx 2 protein shakes and low-fat, low-carb meal at night. Not my favorite way of eating but I know I have to get used to eating a whole lot less. Good luck to you. I'm rooting for all of us.

I'm new, scheduled and excited.
Hello everyone, my name is Cindy. I am scheduled for the Lap-band on 03.07.13. I am in day 4 of my pre-op diet. I searched for a forum just like this one to help me with support and information. I would also like to encourage others on their journey as well. I'm not very good at reaching out to other, and this is one of my downfalls, so I've been told. I have been overweight most of my 50 years on this earth. Like many others I'm sure this has been a yo-yo syndrome. My starting weight is 324 and my current weight is 311.4. I would love to meet new people with whom I can build a supporting and loving relationship. My husband and family are great supporters, but I would love to interact with others going through the same procedure and there after. Thank you for reading, Cindy
