  2. anybody still out there?
  3. After a long and disappointing fight with insurance, I am now a self pay. I wrote the check today and am scheduled for Feb 7th. Don't know a time yet.
  4. just got word on Monday, I am 43 pounds away from 49.9BMI, insurance will not approve until then for lapband but will approve bypass. I too am upset, disappointed, etc. My primary gave me merida to help but I feel as I have fallen off my wagon! I have another appointment with my surgeon on May 8th. Has anyone had any success appealing to insurance who have been denied being over 50BMI??
  5. talked with insurance, they say that lapband may not be as successful for someone with over 50 bmi - makes no sense to me - my doc also wants me to have lapband - I guess that I will have to lose until I hit BMI of 49.9 then get approved for lapband
  6. my insurance will not cover lap band for anyone over 50 bmi but will cover me for the bypass - I need to lose 43 pounds to go below 50 bmi - next hurdle is that my insurance may change in July so I really only have about 6 weeks to lose 43 pounds and still have time for surgery - anyone have advice - is this doable????
  7. just found out that I have to have a pulmanary test - anyone know what this is? I know that I have to get an xray but what else?
  8. half of a pie - it would have been the whole thing if i could have found one or could muster the energy to make one!! thanks for letting me vent and for the support!
  9. need to vent... lost my job today (actually I resigned but it was accepted and wanted immediately) but the kicker is the person who stabbed me in the back was my own sister - she wants my job and has set me up to look stupid on several occassions recently. I am still preband .... i missed my appointment with the dietiatian due to cleaning out my office had to reschedule for 2 weeks from now - i celebrated with a cherry coke (not diet) and 2 choc chip Cookies - now I am mad at myself for eating that junk!
  10. I go in the morning - I will let you know:)
  11. Hi Irmo, I'm in Elgin - used to live in Irmo in New Friarsgate for about 3 years but that was 8 years ago! Too busy in Irmo for my taste but the NE Cola is getting the same way!! Where are you at in your journey and which doctor are you going to use....
  12. hey! I am trying to figure out how to get those cute weight loss charts at the bottom - any suggestions?? I have attended the seminar, had my consult with surgeon, and made appointment for pre-op with nutrition person (due to so many food allergies) for this tuesday. That means within 7 days of my seminar, I have taken care of three requirements!! Next steps, psyc eval, attend support group meeting and insurance approval. I hope to have all of this done by April 10th (my goal). I am past ready to be banded and get on with the rest of my life.
  13. sounds great! When are you scheduled? I went today for my consult, I am a canidate for lapband and need to meet with the food lady (I have alot of food allergies) and the psyc visit. I am anxious to get started!! I guess the diet stuff will come with the visit next week - last weekend - so many choices but not really interested!!
  14. okay, I stressed over the seminar but it was not hard or gross - very interesting - My doctor will begin doing the lapband as outpatient starting next week unless... Next step is my initial consultation and insurance verification -
  15. I have been stalking the boards but just registered. I leave in 15 minutes for my seminar - worried that I will get chickened out durning the session. I am ready to do this but am scared. A good friend died just after gastic bypass (due to allergic reaction to a medicine) about 5 years ago. I have been thinking of her alot these last couple of weeks. Really in need of some reassurance!!
