Preggy progress/Updates/Tell us how you're doing!
Weight update: I have gained a TOTAL of 49.4 lbs this pregnancy so far....12 of those pounds I gained before I went in for my first intake appointment (because I had my lapband loosened and ate like there was NO tomorrow) so they are only counting 37 lbs gained on this pregnancy. My weight gain has slowed alot these past few weeks (less than a lb a week now) as the baby is getting bigger and i'm finally eating less...LOL How have the rest of you fared and how hard (for those of you with previous band babies) was it to take off afterwards??

Does anyone on here know why they measure our stomachs? What is the signifigance of the measurement as opposed to WHEN we deliver? I could ask my doctor, but hate to call her with questions 'just because' and I always forget to ask these 'just because' questions when I actually have her in the exam room... Thanks. Renee

I've been a little crampy too, nothing big though. I went in for my 34 week checkup yesterday, they said my stomach measured at 37 weeks...don't know if that means anything or not... I did have my other child AT 37 weeks though so i'm praying the good Lord brings this child to us (happy & healthy of course) at 37 weeks as well, which means that is only 3 weeks away (which STILL feels like a lifetime away)!!

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
Thank the good Lord I didn't have to have an internal U/S for my first one (on either child)...I did later as my pregnancy progressed on child #1 as I had a bad placement of my placenta and they wanted to watch it as well as some type of cyst?, but on this child (knock on wood) I haven't had to have any internal U/S...it usually depends on several factors: the mother, the fetus, placement of the placenta etc on whether they will subject you to this type of U/S...in all fairness if it's BEST for baby, I know we would all do it, but I was NOT a big fan....during one of mine, my rear is facing the door. The wand is still....in....the technician leaves to get a doctor to come "look" and I was feeling quite exposed and uncomfortable with my pants around my ankles and the door opening/closing/people coming in and out....I never used that particular technician again. Good luck and remember, it's messy , it's ugly but it's WORTH it!

I'm just checking in the first time for over a week and ...girl...you have been through alot! Thank you for sharing your story, I will be SURE to tell the docs I NEED something to keep me from throwing up if AT ALL possible! I seriously have not been worried about it at all, but you gave us all a reality check here. I am so glad you are able to get some liquids down again and now that you can drink water, you will flush all that excess liquid out and be lighter than you were-i'm sure of it! Hold on, be strong, love your baby and keep us up to date!! -Renee

Can't believe he went THERE...
I'm agreeing with the other ladies, your husband now needs to know...who knows what can come out of this and if he's kept in the dark, it could reduce his trust in YOU...I wouldn't take that chance. His friend Doug knows him well - get his advice on HOW to tell your DH...he may even do it for you AWAY from the home one evening to be sure your DH has time to "cool" before coming home and close to this creep....but again remember the #1 thing you need is his love and his support and you don't want him to not trust you, especially when you are the victim here, not the perpetrator. We are all pulling for you girl...hang in there.

Everyone does things differently, I know I was having the dry heaves, nausea, not being able to eat etc. so I said "forget it" and had everything taken out (at least ALL they could get out - it was less than they put in, so not sure ALL did come out) so I could focus on the pregnancy and NOt my weight, my band or any other outside distractions...so far i've gained 32 lbs (the doctor says I have only gained 20 lbs and they say that's great-what they don't seem to realize is that in the 4-5 weeks BEFORE my intake appointment I put on 12 lbs!!!! Yes it's true, when you first get some taken out you will put on some weight) but as long as I get a healthy and hopefully chubby baby out of the process it will be worth EVERY pound in gold. (I have to keep telling myself that because there are days I do get a LITTLE worried)

OMG-I would feel sooo cheated! IT may have been a hormonal imbalance? Did you address it with your doctor? They say you burn an extra 500-800 calories a day by breastfeeding, so if you go by numbers, it should at least MAINTAIN even eating extra instead of going up!!! I'm so sorry, I would have been really mad were I you. I just went back and checked my notes, when I got pregnant the first time I was 235, I gained between 45-50 lbs with the pregnancy and by the time I returned to work 5 months later I was down to 216 (not dieting or exercising) so I know by my habits and history that the weight loss was due to breast feeding because I went through a postpartum depression and guess what? I EAT when depresssed...ho hum. This time I plan on getting back to the gym right after the 6 weeks I have to wait to heal (for a C Section) to try to combat the nasty post partum and I will do my darndest to keep sweets out of the house and stick to fruits to kill the dreaded sweet tooth. I think during this time I will hide the scale though as it is my biggest downfall. I'm really happy to hear that even though you had weight gain with your last pregnancy that you even considered breast feeding again, it is so good for both mom and baby and many of us fight it (it's easy to do in this day and age when it just isn't convenient and some of us JUST have a hard time getting the baby to take it as well...I did at first) Good for you, keep us posted on your progress, we love to hear from you!!!!!! How old is your baby now? ps...i'm so excited to get to meet my baby, i'm dreaming of his little face almost every night right now..i'm so smitten with my little man and haven't even gotten to meet him yet.:smile2:

Are you planning on breast feeding? Or even pumping? If so, you will find the weight will come off even faster and it is so beneficial to the child if you can do it...now studies show that it reduces the chance of breast cancer too. I dropped 16 pounds within a couple of weeks of my last birth due to breast feeding (I know it had to have been due to that because i WAS TOTALLY eating everything in sight) unfortunately when I returned to work 5 months later, I tried pumping, but my milk started drying up, so I only got 5 months in, I plan on going the full year with this one if my body will let me.

Yeah there was a dark spot come to think of it...maybe she was trying to figure out what it was...a mystery twin or some such...LOL I can't tell what they are looking at half the time anyway...last time I went "wow look how big my baby's head is.." to which the tech replied "that's his abdomen" needless to say, I made no more comments until told what I was looking at...LOL

Where are my fellow Oregonians?
Hello fellow Oregonians...i'm pregnant right now so have put my weight loss on hold until after the baby is born (Nov.) but in the meantime I am putting together a support group (nothing formal-just some of us getting together to offer support and/or advice and an opportunity to talk about our lapband woes and successes with others who understand) I for one could really use some support and know that there are others out there who feel the same way. If you are interested in joining, please let me know...I am located in the Beaverton area. Thanks, Renee:thumbup:

I'm checking in twice a day to see if she's responded...I hope everything went okay, obviously something has happened...of course with a newborn, who has time to play on the computer... :w00t:

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
I carry most of my stomach fat in my lower abdomen so my port is protruding and has been since about 4-5 months along, I have to be careful when laying on my left side because it is tender there...the good news is that my skin is so stretched out from being so big before and baby one that I have NO NEW stretch marks ( I was about 40 lbs heavier starting out with baby #1 as opposed to this pregnancy) Anyway, I still have to make it until Nov. 16th (although I think baby will come more like Oct 31-Nov 6th) so let's hope my port doesn't decide to make a break for it.. :w00t:

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
LMAO....you crack me up...i'll have to try that...when I was getting an ultrasound, the tech ran the wand over it at one point and it hurt because she was really pushing and I told her I had a port there (of course she was curious and I told her what it was) and she avoided it from then on to make sure and not cause me any more discomfort...why she was looking so high up is anyones guess-sometimes they rove around "pushing" to get my little guy to change positions so that may be what was going on.

Good luck, keep us updated...be careful, these bands are pricey tools, and we want to take good care of them!

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
I too had a complete unfill, but same as you, the amount that came out was less than what had been put in...anyway I was warned to take it easy for 24 hours to give my stomach time to "reduce any swelling" etc..well I couldn't wait, I had a hamburger for dinner that night (my unfill was around noon that day) and I had NO problems whatsoever and until I hit my sixth month of pregnancy had felt no restriction...now i've had a couple of PB's...I would suggest you give yourself a day or two, it sounds like you have some stress on your stomach and definitely need to address the acid reflux. If you are still having issues, then call your doctor...

what happened with your port after you got really big towards the end? Mine is already pushing against my skin and a little sore, i'm wondering how long it will go before it pushes through my skin...LOL j/k but I am a little concerned ..
