May 2007 Banders
You're not kidding, there are so many different instructions and I realize we are all different so it's not that unusual, but what I really want to know is why are we supposed to do liquid meds? Why can't we take pills? Can someone please clear that up, I just realized I didn't know the answer to this and ran out of liquid pain meds and was thinking "why can't I just take a pill?"

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Mother's Day weekend was hard. The first night I went to my parent's they ordered takeout Chinese food and even though I wasn't hungry I would like to have tried some of it. The next day they made lasagna and cheesey bread and my favorite-homemade asian chicken salad with the crispy noodles and oil/vinegar dressing....it looked good, but I drank my broth and smiled and played with the kids...it paid off this morning, I weighed in and instead of gaining a pound (which those kind of weekends I would tend to do) I was down a few more pounds! That felt WAY better than any of that food would have tasted...and let's be honest, we already know what the food tastes like. If I really wanted to, I could have sat down and imagined the flavors of the food and not had to have eaten any. I am sooo excited for you, please don't be scared.

May 2007 Banders
I was banded on the 9th and have yet to experience the gas or shoulder pain everyone here is talking about. My port area is a little tender and I can't bend over because my "rolls" push against it, but I just made sure to walk alot and pop GasX strips and have had NO problems or pain. I'm sure that since you are aware of what you could experience you will do what you need to to ensure a speedy recovery!! Good luck! Let us know how it goes when you do have your surgery.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Hi Kaylali! Who is your Surgeon? When are you scheduled? Did they specifically say you did NOT need the preop diet? Hmmm... I would definitely double check that, but if it's true, you are lucky. I was wondering on the speedy recovery part as well, my understanding is that they put you on the preop diet to shrink your liver. This causes an easier surgery (less moving things around) which is what causes more injury during the surgery, whenever they go inside and touch or move stuff we need time to heal...someone please correct me if i'm wrong? thx, Renee

Lower BMI Bandsters!
How much did you lose? If I don't lose enough will they deny me? I still haven't heard anything back from the nutritionist and I have still only lost 3 lbs.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Did Ortiz have you do the preop diet? Like I said earlier because i'm a lower BMI I didn't HAVE to have the Nutrition consult ahead of time, but she called me last week to check in to see if I needed any Q's answered and I missed her call, but emailed her with my concern over lack of weight loss and she didn't seem concerned so i'm starting to think it probably won't matter-maybe due to the lower BMI? Maybe because i'm trying it will reduce the liver regardless of actual weight loss...I dunno so I thought i'd ask you guys...I know other people-quite higher BMI's who went to Mexico and ate like crazy up to the day they took and had NO issues (which I would never do as i'm too neurotic about my health) I also want to be back to work within 6 days (I have a sedentary desk job) so I think it's doable and I've had a C-section in the past and recovered quite quickly and stop taking pain meds after the first day home from the hospital.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
thanks, everyone is so encouraging here. I feel so defeated when it comes to weight loss and part of me really doesn't feel the band is going to work either and i'm trying to shake that feeling and find hope, but i'm afraid I will be disappointed.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Thanks! The nutritionist called to check in with me but I missed her call and emailed her...her response was to go to their estore and buy their online products then I have a guaranteed weight loss so I don't think they are too concerned about it either (maybe because i'm a lower BMI?). I'm just following the preop instructions that were sent to me to ensure a successful recovery period.

MBTI and weight loss
How fun! I took it in college a few years ago and can't remember exactly but after reading the descriptions I think I am an ENFP or ENTP or maybe a little of both!!! LOL :clap2:

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Lower BMI Bandsters I need some advice. My surgery date is counting down and (yes i'm getting scared) i'm worried about my weight loss-i'm supposed to lose 12 lbs by the 9th of May and i've only lost 3 lbs. I have a really hard time losing weight, that's why I am getting the band - to help me. I've been drinking a slimfast for breakfast & lunch and having a lean cuisine for dinner. To curb the hunger pains...and there are ALOT, I eat celery. I have eaten two packages of celery in the past three days-that's alot of munching...i'm drinking tea every day all day long trying to keep my hunger at bay too...i'm NOT drinking alot of water due to the fact that i'm drinking tea, but I was told that since it is clear that is equates to drinking water...however as you can see I am not losing very fast. I'm so afraid if I don't lose enough weight my liver won't be shrunken enough to make for an easy surgery and quick recovery. Any advice/experience etc would be greatly appreciated.

Help with ticker, etc
The one that told you you can only have 6 lines is the right place to put it...you just need to shorten what you have there...maybe you have some spaces above it-try deleting any space above the html code you are pasting, then make sure you only have 1-2 lines below it with your actual signature and then see if it works.

BodyBugg Convert
At the bottom of the message you want to quote there is a "quote" button-hit that and then type in what you want to say after the word "quote" appears at the bottom of the message. Then just 'submit reply' and it comes up looking like this!!

BodyBugg Convert
I saw that too, but he's wrong. According to Body Bugg customer service you can change it...with the $199 3 month subscription of course!! LOL

BodyBugg Convert
<p> </p> <p> </p> <p>I emailed the body bugg customer service that I had a used body bugg that I wanted to reprogram to my body and to start using and wanted to know how much it would cost to get a body bugg up and running and this was their reply:</p> <p> </p> <p>At this time you must purchase the $199 web only package in order to make use of a pre-owned armband. This includes 2 coaching sessions in which you learn how to use the software and create your program as well as the initial 3-month subscription. After the first 3 months, you can renew your subscription for $15 per month (or there are other renewal options as well).</p> <p> </p> <p>It’s okay to use a pre-owned armband, but you will want to perform a firmware upgrade before you begin using it. This is the link you need for that:</p> <p> </p> <p>http://www.bodybugg.com/firmware.php</p> <p> </p> <p>If you have any other questions please let us know. Thanks!</p> <p> </p> <p>christie j. renick, mfa</p> <p></p> <p>the bodybugg™ team</p> <p>800.656.2739 ext 281</p> <p>info@bodybugg.com</p> <p> </p> <p>So basically when you purchase a new one for $399, the body bug itself is only $200 and the other $199 is for the initial 3 months and then it reverts to only $15 a month. Soooo if you do buy a used one, it is NOT smart to pay more than $200 for it..in fact I (being thrifty) would refuse to buy a used one for more than $180 (then use the extra $20 I saved to go out and buy a new pair of workout pants.) <img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/heh.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Heh" smilieid="255" class="inlineimg" /> </p>
