Hello, My name is Keisha. I am 37 years old. I am a wife and a mother of 2 teenagers. I have struggled with my weight for about 16 years off and on. Agter my daughter years ago. I lost all my pre weight and then I meet my husband in 2000. I started gradually gaining weight. By are wedding date in 2002 I gained 40 lbs. I did not over eat or eat a lot of junk food. I tried hard to lose weight. I paid for a weight lost doctor and DIet pills and curves and lost only 5 pounds. By the time got married I was 215lbs. The next year I was Diagnosed with a benign Pituitary tumor and a dozon other things. I started gaining weight fast. I got to 270 lbs with in a year or so. The tumor messed with my Hormones and just changed my body. I was depressed and did not care. I just dealt with it and did not try. I did quit deinking pop for a year and did not drop a pound. That was discuraging. I even ate low fat stuff, whole wheat, just did not portion control that well. In 2010 finally got a new Doctor and she helped me out a lot and refered me to Bariatic center. I was approved with in 6 months and was all set for surgery Sept 21, 2012. Then the bad news come I had no insurance. it was dropped. I was devistated. So No surgery for me. That was around Sept 5, 2012. On sept. 24th I broke my foot and lost my job. I went from 178 to 189 in a month due to no pressure on my foot. Then I got some insurance and I was put on a ***, which was the same insurance company that I had before. So they honored my approval. I was happy. Well the Doctor was booked until December and I did not know if this insurance was going to be dropped all I knew is that I have it for November. The nurses talked to the doctor and he decieded to do a surgery on an off day which was Nov. 20th. They called me on Nov 9th to let me know. I had to start the diet, get the scope, take the classes, and get labs done with in 5 days. along with a million other things to do for other issues.
I mananged and prayed to God that I could have the will power to start. I weighed 289 on Monday for the scope and when I went to the hospital to have my Surgery I weighed 179. I was amazed by the diet. I am 1 week from my surgery and the weight is 173 to 175.
I am happy to start my new Journey. It was an opsticle and it still will be one being that I still ahve the tumor and hormone issues. But we will see. :D
