  1. Kristie I am 4 days PO and have experienced a lot of burning. Mine has been very similar to gastritis. I spoke with my Dr. Who said that there is an inflammatory response that takes place that usually starts 2 days after surgery. Some PTs have a lot of burning due to this. This is normal IF you are tolerating liquids and are not throwing up. The pain meds help with the burning. Don't be afraid to use them.
