  1. I'm so excited and have to share this! I just called my I durance company (magnacare) for a second time to find out if Lapband is covered. The first time I was told there was nothing showing about coverage so I'd have to send in a predetermination letter and they'd go from there. So I called again today and if I go to an in-network surgeon I'm 100100% covered!!!!!!
  2. For those of you who already had the surgery or were approved for the surgery, would you mind sharing your story of the approval process? I haven't even attended my first seminar yet (it's on Nov. 15) but I'd just like to get a better feel for the process. thanks so much! -Jennifer
  3. I'm in Rockland but haven't gotten the surgery et. I'm attending my first seminar next week. Don't even know if my insurance will cover it (magnacare). They said to send in the predetermination first and they'll go from there. Whatever that means..
  4. I feel the same way! I haven't even gone yo my first seminar yet! I finally told my mom last night and she doesn't agree with it because she sees it as unnecessary but once I explained to her my risks now and with surgery and how much it will benefit me she was much more accepting and supportive. In my head, I still feel the stigma of being the "easy way out" although I know it is the complete opposite. Keep your chin up, your loved ones will support you no matter what, even though they may not agree with it. We're all here for you! Feel free to message me if you need a shoulder! -Jennifer
  5. I called my insurance company (MagnaCare) and since they were unable to find out if bariatric surgery was covered, she told me to send in the predetermination and they'd go from there. Has anyone who's had the LapBand dealt with this? Would you assume this is a good thing? Maybe meaning if I qualify for the LapBand I will be covered? Fingers crossed!
  6. For future reference for any MangaCare members- I called and the representative couldn't find out where it said anything about being covered for bariatric surgery. The representative , Diana, said to send in my predetermination and they'd go from there. I'm not sure if this is just through my plan through my job or not but I wanted to let you all know. -Jennifer
  7. Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer and I'm 28 years old and live in NY. I have finally decided that I believe the LapBand is the right route for me to take I order to live a healthy lifestyle. I will be attending my first seminar this week and am really excited! I'm really waiting to find our if my k durance, MagnaCare, covers it. Anyway, just wanted to say ho to everyone!
  8. Hello everyone! I am curious to know if anyone has magnacare and can tell me whether you were approved or not, and the process, etc. I haven't contacted them yet because of the hurricane but am planning to tomorrow. Thanks so much! Jennifer Th
