  1. thanks! so excited for this new journey
  2. The big day has finally arrived, tomorrow I will be banded! Extremely nervous/excited at the moment! Will probably get no sleep tonight! Wish me luck
  3. Hello bandsters! It's day 6 of my optifast diet and I'm pleased as punch to report I have lost 6 kilos!!! ( 13ish pounds)! After this achievement I feel absolutely inspired and cannot wait for my surgery! woo! Any tips on what to bring to the hospital/what to do in preparation for surgery? just over a week to go!
  4. Thanks, I talked to my dietitian and it's fine to have it because it's diet and i'm allowed a few diet things on the optifast course but i'm going to cut back after surgery anyway as I've heard fizzy drinks can increase the risk of slippage
  5. Does anybody know if diet coke is okay during the 2 week optifast phase? I thought it was because it's sugar free but wanted to double check before I go drinking it!
  6. Hello fellow lap banders, I just have a few questions about the 2 week Optifast period. I started my Optifast this morning with one of the bars, and not sure if this is related but I'm feeling a bit average now, which is strange because I don't usually eat Breakfast, so I'm not sure if it's related to the optifast or if I'm just getting sick myself, did anyone feel like this when they very first started the optifast? I just have a head ache and feel generally lousy. My second question is about what you can drink during this period, I'm quite a heavy diet coke drinker, and I know I will need to pretty much give this up after surgery, however my question is, am I able to drink diet coke during 2 week optifast? I thought I read somewhere that it was okay because it's diet, but I just thought I'd check. Also wanted to check, I know you're allowed to drink tea, but does it have to be black, or can I put milk in it? Thanks!
  7. so you can't have any of the bars or soups or Desserts? cause I'm fairly sure I can have all of those things, as well as the shakes, but just wasn't sure how much a day
  8. Hello again all, I start my optifast on the 3rd of October and I was wondering if anyone had any sort of plan, or example of their diet over the 2 weeks, I know each optifast replaces one meal, but I feel like I need to see some diet plans to help me know what amount is best Ta!
  9. I'm getting banded on the 17th of October which is just over 2 weeks away and the nerves are finally setting in, I feel like i'm not prepared! I know it's just nerves talking but is there anything I should be doing in particular in the next 2 weeks (aside from the optifast) any information is appreciated!! Thanks
  10. Great thanks so much everyone !
  11. Hi everyone, I'm very new to this whole process, just recently decided on my surgery date (17th of October 2012) and am looking for any tips or advice anyone has for the 5 weeks leading up to surgery, anything in particular I should be doing (aside from the optifast). Also any advice/info about the surgery itself would be super helpful! One concern I have is a bit silly but I can help it, will the surgeon see you naked during the surgery? I know it's a bit ridiculous but being overweight I am VERY self conscious about this!!! Obviously the surgeon does this kind of thing a lot and won't care, but I just can't help feeling self conscious haha so as I said any advice or anything is welcome! Thanks
