  1. Why? Is that not true? If you started to regain couldn't you get it filled?
  2. I'm Sure the doc just wanted me to have all the info. He did say patients on the lap band dont regain any weight, which is a big plus to getting surgery.
  3. Are you losing the weight from everywhere? This is one of my concerns in having the surgery.
  4. So I just had my first meeting with the Dr. He said his only concern is that if I have a slow metabolism, the band may not be able to lose because the band allows 1200-1500 calories a day and it may not be low enough to get my body to lose weight. Anyone out there have a slow metabolism and had the band surgery? I also have hypothyroidism and on meds for that.
  5. Hi, After many disappointing attempts at losing weight I am looking into getting the LapBand. It's not for lack of trying. I have run several 5k's and worked out 6 days a week for a year and even participated in the Mud Run, a 10k obstacle course, last summer. It wasn't until after that that my doctor told me I had hypothyroidism. I thought the medicine would help me lose the weight but I have done some research and found that it has more to do with your metabolism being stuck. I'm not getting any younger (34) and at first I felt LapBand would be a sign of failure but not I see it as more of a tool. It is frustrating when you do work out a lot and the weight doesn't come off. I have my first appt with a surgeon next week. I guess I will make my decision then.
