    Gaining

Absolutely! When you work out your body retains Fluid to repair the muscle. I always try to weigh-in after a "rest" day. Also, I can retain several pounds of fluid depend ding on my cycle. HTH!

    Stomach Virus: Tight or Slip?

I don't post here often, but am hoping to get some input from more experienced banders. I have a call in to my nurse and am waiting to hear back. Two weeks ago I had a Stomach Virus that lasted 5 days...thankfully I only had 1 episode of vomiting. Since the stomach bug I've been having discomfort when food goes through the band. Saturday I did 24 hrs of liquids then started back on food Sunday. Sunday was ok, but by Monday I was having discomfort again. My hope is that everything is just still swollen and irritated from the virus and can do a couple of days of fluids. Anybody have any similar experiences?
  3. I was banded in August and I definitely had/have issues with constipation. Every morningbI have an Arbonne protein shake, so I add 1/2 TBSP Benefiber and that takes care of the problem!

Pain Near Diaphragm And Middle Back

Thanks for the input! You've both help put my mind at ease!
  5. Hi everyone! I don't post here often, usually just check in every few days. My surgery was 8/24/12, so I'll be 5 wks post-op tomorrow. I also had a small Hernia Repaired. I have been healing great and was able to start solids this past week. I do not have any fluid in my band. Last night I started experiencing some pain in my middle back and diaphragm/band area. I thought it was gas and took some gas-x. The pain I'm talking about feels similar to post-op pain/pressure, the stomach-diaphragm pain is not constant, I just feel it when some gas moves or something. The back pain is pretty constant. I've had my gallbladder removed, so I know that's not the problem. Saturday, I was working in the yard and fell over a stump, straight on my stomach; I was fine and didn't feel any immediate pain. My son has also been sick this week (he's 3, weighs about 40lbs.) so I've been carrying/holding him more often this week. But what I think really caused my problem happened last night. I was eating a hard shell chicken taco, (this is allowed right now per my dr. and it was within my dietary guidelines). Everything felt fine but I took a bite or two too many and felt nauseous and gassy after I ate. I KNOW for certain that my bites are too big right now as well! The pain started mildly last night and has gotten progressively worse today. I've been able to keep all my food down, but tonight while I was eating I became uncomfortable and stopped eating after a few bites. I have my 1st fill scheduled for Tuesday and am going to call my dr. in the morning but I was wondering if any of you had any insight. What I'm thinking is that I've irritated my stomach and need to go on fluids for a couple of days? I hope this isn't all a rambling mess! Thanks in advance!

Talking To My Children About Lbs

We pretty much explained the "kid friendly" version of what was going to happen to our kids (3,4 and 9). They were going to be spending 2 nights with my mom and we generally discuss everything anyways! I told them the dr was going to put a band around my stomach to help me lose weight to help me eat healthier so that I could lose weight. We stressed with our 9 year old girl that it was a health improvement and not a vanity issue, as she is already getting worried about her appearance. They were all super in helping me recover! Helped pick up their toys, got me anything I needed, climbed into their carseats without complaining since I couldn't lift them. I've been pretty open with everyone about my surgery, blogged about it, etc. So I wasn't worried about them "spilling the beans."
  7. My surgeon only requires you to do it if you have a higher BMI (mid 40's and above).

    August Roll Call

Hi! I'm new here! I'm getting my band Friday, August 24!
  9. I'm paying just shy of $15,000 in Little Rock, AR. That includes Dr. fees and hospital as well as 18 months of fills.

    Pre-Op Diet??

My dr. said he typically only has patients with a certain BMI do a pre-op diet. My surgery is next Friday, 8/24, and I am on a 900 calorie diet. 2 shakes, veggies, Lean Cuisine type meal for dinner. My mom is having the surgery a month after me and is not required to do the diet, but she's doing it just to help lose weight pre-surgery. It certainly doesn't hurt!
