  4. I'm on my third day pre-op, and I was told I can only drink the meal replacements 3 times a day and water. Is everyone's pre-op different because I see people posting they are allowed more. Nonetheless the shakes have been filling me up as long as I drink a lot of water throughout the day. Does anyone else get the gurgles in their tummy?
  5. Bust!!! You can do this!!! Just think of everything you will be able I accomplish, how ppl won't look at you any different because of ur size... How much more confidence you will have. I'm scared too! I have the same fears as you but I have a kid to keep up with and the fact that diabetes runs in my family and I've already lost 3 family members because of that disease. I don't want to leave my kid motherless. That's my reasoning. Journal all ur struggles and go back and read ur goals and remind urself why u are doing this. Good luck bust! You can do this!!!
  6. I'll tell you my tricks. I lost 12 pounds in 1 month the healthy way. I've actually lost a total of 19 pounds from the beginning of my journey with this lap band approval waiting and all. If you have an iPhone, there is an app called Lose It. U enter in how much weight you want to lose and it gives you a timeline as to when u are going to lose that as well as a set caloric intake to maintain each day. U log in all the food you eat and it gives you the amount of calories u are ingesting. If you do any exercise that day you log it in as well and it reimburses you some calories. It really makes you se how much you are putting in your body. My second trick was downloading another app, Couch to 5K in 8 weeks... I love this app! I have a hard time doing excersize on my own but this app has a voice that tells you when to start running, stop, and start walking. I'm no runner, trust me! But I jog walk and it makes the difference! The more you exercise the longer the pounds stay off. Eating right is also another perk to keeping down the weight. Good luck!
  7. I'm getting my band on the 20th as well. I survived my first day of protein shakes but omg do I crave real food sooo bad!!! And what sucks more is that I got my letter saying I passed my NCLEX test to become a nurse and I can't really go out and celebrate because I can't eat or drink....I can dance tho! Lol but yea... The shakes are killin me! Anyone have any tips for the vanilla flavor? How to make it more appealing?
  8. You need to call ur dr office every week and see where they are at with all your paperwork. Hound them!! They will get sick of it and want to put u first cuz u keep buggin hahah. That's what I did
  9. I can totally relate! I've been a chubby bunny ever since I was little, and I am sooo looking forward to becoming a thin person for the first time in my life. Just be mentally prepared for the changes that are going to happen with your body. A lap band patient was talking at a support group and she was saying she got scared when she saw this skinny person in the mirror. So she started putting the weight back in cuz that's all she ever knew. Good luck to you, and we can do this!!
  10. Congrats to you!! I'm also getting the band on the 20th of August and starting my protein meal replacements tomorrow. Verryyy nervous because I don't want to be queezy or dizzy.. Oh well... We can do this!! Food will not take over our happiness and health!! Good luck on your surgery and I hope u have a great recovery!
