  1. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about 10 yrs ago and even after starting synthroid I struggled with with severe weight gain. To make a long story short.... I finally found an enternist who would actually take the time to listen to me. She explained to me that thyroid medication is one of those medications where there can be a huge difference between name brand and generic. After 9 yrs of taking levothyroxine, she put me on synthroid (take exactly as instructed) and my levels have been in normal range every since. It's a little more pricy for name brand, but definitely worth it! I'm 3.5 weeks post op and have lost 15 pounds. Im 35 yrs old and I haven't felt this good since I was in high school.
  2. Im only two and a half weeks post op but I literally thought I was going to go crazy. All i thought about all day long was a cheesburger. It consumed my days for 2 solid days, then the next day it was something else. I felt so depressed. I had realized not only how much my life revolved around food, but that it was now controlling my mind. I was on the couch in tears cause i wanted to eat so bad but knew my stomach didnt! My husband is the one who insisted I start talking to people on this sight. Just hearing from others and the positive input has been so helpful. But what ultimately helped was making the decision that it's just food. I am a grown woman and refuse to let non breathing/living substances make my daily decisions for me any longer. It realy is a mental challenge. We can do this!!!! And don't watch tv. Commercials are delicious! Lol!!
  3. I'm two weeks post op. very moody and angry all the time. I think it's the lack of sugar. And i think im starving all the time, even though my stomach does not agree. Any suggestions.

    Newly Banded

I did have a hernia repair w the band. The feeling seems to get better every day. Maybe I'm just impatient. Between the pain and feeling like I was going to starve, I was beginning to think I had made a mistake. It seems to be getting better, and the potted meat I had yesterday was the best meal I've ever had in my life!!!! Lol!! After reading post in the forum I see that others are going trough the same things I am. It makes me feel better (I dont know why). I never realized how much my life revolved around food.
